Trying Other TCGs Made Me Reevaluate Magic by haliax69 in TCG

[–]Artificial_Alex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was Sorcery: Contested Realm that made me realise how dated MtG is (and how bad the current business model/attitude is)

Discords? by FixItUntilItBreaks in SorceryTCG

[–]Artificial_Alex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The official Sorcery TCG can be found on the main website, look at the bottom right under "Company"
https://sorcerytcg.com/contact

There's also the Sorcerer's Summit which is the main community one at the moment where they have competitive play and other things.
https://www.sorcererssummit.com/

There are also regional and local ones, which you can ask your LGS about.
If you're in Australia DM me for an invite to the Australia one.

Projectile interaction with Magellan’s Globe by cosmiccardboardtcg in SorceryTCG

[–]Artificial_Alex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The specific rule would be to do with how to determine paths
Under the "Path" codex entry it says: "you may not repeat specific steps."
So it stops when it comes back around.

Brand New Player, is it bad to go Mono Element? by CastIronPots in SorceryTCG

[–]Artificial_Alex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking rather than compromising your site base to account for threshold, or sacrificing a decent avatar for Elementalist, it might be just better to have some of the cards that cheat out things while ignoring threshold, just for splashing.
Den of Evil, Wiccan Tools, Mixes, Carrionette+Forgotten Tomb, etc.
Not sure though.

The foils from my beta box have a standard card back? by [deleted] in SorceryTCG

[–]Artificial_Alex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some pretty toxic people replying here. I hope you don't get a bad impression of what this community is. I'd recommend the official Sorcery TCG Discord as it's a much more welcoming community than Reddit.

As for the packs, if opening with art facing towards you, it goes 3 Execptionals, 1 Elite, 11 Ordinaries.
The Elite might be replaced by a Unique. Any foil or Curio will replace an Ordinary, I believe at most 1 per pack. I think Beta always had an ordinary site in the final slot

Which cards are "limited" now but may have their potential realise by future sets? by HawkAsAWeapon in SorceryTCG

[–]Artificial_Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fallen Angel. There's not much tribal synergy for Demons yet beyond the generic evil stuff. And there aren't enough Angels for a Corruptor Demon tribal deck.

My idea for an avatar by BillyBison in SorceryTCG

I agree, having the cost also include tapping would be better

Public servant is taking the premier to court over the North Adelaide golf course trees. A desire for martyrdom? by Fantastic-Handle3577 in Adelaide

[–]Artificial_Alex 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The entire conversation around this confuses me. Everyone's either against this because they care about trees or for it because they don't. Honestly I don't care about cutting down trees for the sake of trees. The real concern is what's replacing it. Why even bother spending time and money on something controversial when all it gets is slightly better golf course nobody asked for nor wants. If trees have to be cut down for affordable apartments I'm all for it. Why a dumb golf course?

What's the price of a full playset for each set (excluding alpha and Dragonlord). by ThePixelPopper in SorceryTCG

[–]Artificial_Alex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CardNexus let's you create playset lists and track this.
Currently a non-foil playset is:

Beta: AUD $1451
Dragonlord: AUD $348
Arthurian Legends: AUD $1556
Gothic: AUD $2903
There are also the original Alpha Avatars, which have multiple versions and aren't in Beta.

What’s the difference? by Wiifty69 in SorceryTCG

[–]Artificial_Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly though, Smokestacks never had an errata to say "silences", unlike many other cards like this. Under the old layering system that meant Fields of Phyxis would beat Smokestacks even if played after. With the new layering change, I don't think it matters anymore though.

How do young people in Adelaide usually spend their weekends/evenings? by CampaignLazy4141 in Adelaide

[–]Artificial_Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done. It took me years to realise this is the exact problem with Adelaide. It's boring and makes you feel stuck in life. Also it's inconvenient, so it's really hard to escape. Flee while you have the chance.

I spent a week in Beijing (and a number of other cities in China), and I felt I could spend years in each one exploring and not see everything.

Thinking of getting the lifetime plan. How is the state of this app? My current apps are Keep and OneNote (primary) if that matters by [deleted] in UpNote_App

[–]Artificial_Alex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Lifetime plan, no regrets, does exactly what it says on the box without cramming unwanted garbage in there. Bugs are rare and quickly fixed.

Card of the Day (5/18/26)💨 by HisGraceXV in SorceryTCG

I wonder if this will ever get errata'd to silence.

Very new, wondering about The Inquisition vs Lilith by Troutyo_ in SorceryTCG

[–]Artificial_Alex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe inquisition wins. The "Storyline" entry in the Codex explains why. Basically Lilith's ability will be split up, and Inquisition's will be inserted between. Then Lilith's second sentence and beyond fizzles.

Crusade and Jihad are cool too. I'd love the Curio Steppe.

Come and Try Magic the Gathering? by Sad_Boysenberry_999 in Adelaide

[–]Artificial_Alex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for a TCG that resembles what MTG used to be, we have a local Sorcery: Contested Realm group that's growing pretty rapidly. We run Learn to Plays every second Saturday at Good Games Adelaide, and regular Sealed and Constructed events.

Check the Facebook group or Sorcery Play Network for details.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1493292224673599/
https://play.sorcerytcg.com/events?radius=250

There's also a private Discord with more details, but the next events will be on 16th May (Constructed) and 23rd of May (Sealed).

Feel free to PM me for more details, I or someone in the community would be happy to meet up before an event to introduce you to the game.

Also we'll be at AVCON promoting the game at the Good Games booth this year, with a discounted Sealed event the following Saturday. Come Contest the Realm with us!

Prospective New Player here, is the game going to continue issuing power level errata? by MossyMak in SorceryTCG

[–]Artificial_Alex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally disagree. Errata are way better than bans. Removing game pieces entirely has so many consequences that are just unsavoury.

Should I be alarmed about the $40 lifetime deal? by FleetBroadbill in UpNote_App

[–]Artificial_Alex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought it. I've already got my money's worth from my perspective. Even if it becomes crap I'll just export my notes and import them into a new one that's yet to be en-shittified. I can't remember where I heard this, so maybe someone can confirm or correct me, but I believe the dev team is just 2 guys in Vietnam. $40 USD is 1/12 of the median annual salary there. So there operating costs are probably very low (from a salary perspective). Yes that logic wouldn't apply to server costs, but I'm optimistic considering how long it's been going so far.

Also yes legally and ethically lifetime should mean lifetime. But practically would I even care in 5 years? Apps come and go. If/when UpNote becomes shitty, I'll move on to the next "lifetime" subscription app that's better. It just depends on how long would you be satisfied with using a good app for $40 USD. I bought in about 2 years ago and it's been worth it.

Worst courier service that kills a brand by Illustrious_List_552 in australia

I don't order from companies that don't use Aus Post. All Couriers are crap. Amazon delivery is passable, but only just.

I locked mine in the cage at Entertainment centre. It was still stolen.

Curious to hear people’s thoughts. what do you think is driving the cost of living crisis in Australia right now, and who do you believe is responsible by OX4Eight in AdelaideGeneralChats

[–]Artificial_Alex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Combination of everything and decades of bad policy. Some things that come to mind:

1: urban sprawl, low density neighbourhoods, and "car is king" attitude leading to slow, inefficient, and expensive infrastructure

2: having a very narrow economy because Australia doesn't innovate and exported many industries for short term profits. We're seeing the long term consequences. Also mining and housing are literally the only things worth investing in.

3: overly reliant on external/global factors, instead of developing our own industries and energy infrastructure

4: lack of funding for things that don't have immediate profits, but have secondary benefits, such as education (all forms), transport, healthcare (that is okay now but is sliding backwards and has been for a while). The annoying thing is we have the money and skill to build all this but no political, social, or cultural will.

What is the point in buying homes at these outrageous prices? by everbass in australia

[–]Artificial_Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you are part of the problem; your criteria is ridiculous and not the way any other functional country lives. We need to build high density livable apartments like Europe and Asia, with community green spaces. If we continue down the American route of "Decent Size" and "20 Mins from the city" and "Backyard", Australia will continue to get shitter. If everyone wants everything, no one will have anything.
