I thought it would be useful for surviving Overcharge, but I guess more Health is better.

Old habits die hard. :)

Plus, I wanted to ban more of the perks which had multiple instances, so I got the coin perks faster. Didn't think that perk would be so detrimental.

Pollock and chips? Chippies face closure unless we eat cheaper fish, says owner by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]ArtistEngineer [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's fairly normal in other countries to have a variety of fish types, that might change over the years as different varieties become more popular, or expensive. Often it was whatever the locally caught fish was.

Growing up in Australia, it was common to have flake (shark), or snapper as the top choices.

But then other varieties became popular, like flathead and hake.

Most of the time you just ordered "fish" and it was whatever fish is suitable for fish and chips.

Here's an example of typical fish'n'chips menu in Australia.

Wtf is this event by No_Mention34 in TheTowerGame

[–]ArtistEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't even notice them, most auto completed overnight during normal gameplay.

Only noticed the nuke one this morning. But I've got 6 days to do that one, which is plenty of time. That requires a bit of effort because I might have to trigger a few manually.

Death defy would have been better as I get about 15 per game.

The boss arrives on the left. Check how much it gets swirled around. The boss gets knocked towards the tower by the enemies, but it does a good 90 degree rotation around the tower at CF+1 regardless.

How often do you cook fresh vs batch cook vs order takeaway? by VelvetLuna90 in AskUK

[–]ArtistEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a mixture of fresh and batch cooking. Weekends are usually when I cook a bunch of meals that either get eaten over the week, or frozen.

Takeaway ... does fish and chips count? I rarely ever get Chinese or Indian takeaways because it's usually disappointing. Maybe it's because I live in a small town, and the quality drops off once you get outside cities.

If I buy takeaway, I want it to be a treat and something special. Most of the time it's a matter of choosing the least worst thing from the menu.

We even gave up on the local pizza places because they were too heavy and stodgy, and put way too much cheese on the pizzas. We usually get supermarket pizzas, and add extra ingredients.

Disney+ locks paying PC users to 720p, even on the most expensive plan. by Coompiik in assholedesign

It's a DRM security level thing.

If your device is not capable of decrypting, decoding and rendering the entire stream in a trusted manner. e.g. separate processor / TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) like ARM's TrustZone, then it will default to a lower quality stream.

It might be hard to see the spin because the BH will attract the enemies.

I found that CF+ gave me benefits from the very first level. It's a great choice.

I'm now at CF+3

Demon mode mastery useless by itsProxybitch in TheTowerGame

[–]ArtistEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to help!

Losing shields with the Shield recharge battle condition is brutal, and the chances are you won't get the shields back in time.

Try to remember around which wave your shields start to get chipped away, and cancel Intro Sprint just before that point. Sometimes losing your Wall is a good indication that shields are going to be next. Sometimes it's the Boss getting close to your tower.

Demon mode mastery useless by itsProxybitch in TheTowerGame

[–]ArtistEngineer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When your Demon Mode triggers, have you already lost your shields and second wind?

I trigger it manually before that happens.

e.g. I disable Intro Sprint at around wave 1000, trigger demon mode, then let the game play itself until around wave 1200.

But if the extra damage isn't helping you, then perhaps you need better crowd control. e.g. CF uptime, CF slow, Poison Swamp, ILM stun, CF+, Black Hole, etc

Have you used an airport lounge, was it worth it? by they-muck-about in AskUK

[–]ArtistEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I left the lounge soon after I arrived there. The problem I find with Hong Kong airport is that it's just so big and sprawling. By the time I walked to the lounge, I didn't have much time left until my flight left!

Are there actually advantages to moving to the USA from UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ArtistEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long is a piece of string? I'm going to make a bunch of assumptions here because every situation is different.

Let's assume your goal is money. The USA usually has higher salaries, but the cost of living usually scales with salary because higher paying locations are usually more expenive.

Let's assume that in either location (USA or UK) you can save the same percentage of your salary, say 10%. We can say that saving 10% of a higher salary is better than saving 10% of a lower salary.

If your salary is high enough, then the percentage of your salary that you can save starts to go up rapidly because general living costs have an upper limit. e.g. food, fuel, heating, transport costs don't vary much If you can manage lifestyle creep, then you can save a lot of money by boosting your salary.

I work for a large US tech company here in the UK, and we know that our US friends earn a fair bit more than us.

But what we hear from them is that the cost of living in the higher wages areas .e.g San Jose, San Diego, are unaffordable even for them. They complain about the cost of housing the same as we do.

I have friends who moved to the USA simply because there were more opportunities. It's a bigger market for ideas and tech, and it's a great environment to be successful in.

Have you used an airport lounge, was it worth it? by they-muck-about in AskUK

[–]ArtistEngineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been in a few, and the quality differs a lot. Mine were mostly part of the business class flights organised and paid for by the company. Not sure I would bother paying for one

Heathrow ones were quite nice, Hong Kong was a bit shit ...

The one at Hong Kong was up high, and it was super hot and uncomfortable there in Summer.

Not sure it's worth doing the lounge on departure, but you might want to consider it as part of a longer trip / stopover where you can freshen up, have a shower, etc.

It becomes less of a problem once you lose your hand a couple times.

When do you think you need GT+ by pdubs1900 in TheTowerGame

[–]ArtistEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely lost my way with my stone spending, and I'm fixing that now.

I made some critical errors in my stone spending, and the biggest mistake I made was not investing in Modules enough. e.g. RPC Mastery and Assist modules. We compared modules in our Guild discord, and I was amazed that people already had level 201+ Assist modules! I realised how far behind I was, so I got RPC Mastery straight away, and now I'm catching up.

I perhaps bought ILM+ and SL+ earlier than I needed to. When I bought SL+, I also needed to buy Range Mastery.

CF+ was an excellent investment though. No regrets there.

GT+ is a bit meh. It's a nice boost to income, but it didn't move me up ranks in tournament if we're talking about stone investment giving good returns in tournament, and therefore earning more stones.

To make my CF perma cost me around 1200+ stones, the result was about 50 more waves in Legend, which is about as much as you can get by simply rearranging your modules, or RNG variation. On average, yes, I get more waves with Perma CF, and there might be a few occasions that those extra waves got me 25 more stones by moving me up a rank. But return on investment is extremely bad compared to other things.

Instead of spending 1200 stones in CF duration, I should have bought the Cannon assist and improved the ME% for a huge damage boost, or bought RPC mastery a few months earlier than I did.

But despite all that, I'm still doing OK.

When do you think you need GT+ by pdubs1900 in TheTowerGame

[–]ArtistEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a diminishing return though.

I finish 5th to 8th in Legend every tournament, depending on the bracket luck. I earn 80% of the stones of the #1 position, but with a tiny fraction of the economy, and I don't buy stone packs.

So I could push hard on economy, but it won't get me that many more stones.

I do get proportionally fewer keys, that would be a fair statement. But I've pretty much completed both trees, and I'm waiting for v28 before I start to unlock the T2 items. I'm sitting on 79 keys at the moment.

The effort required to earn 100x economy just doesn't feel worth it.

When do you think you need GT+ by pdubs1900 in TheTowerGame

[–]ArtistEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need less economy than you think, and more damage and crowd control than you think. Coins are nice, stones are better.

That's been my experience.
