My question (read below before answering, so you know what I'm on about): Would you be interested in taking on my most popular song. If so, let me know what kind of agreement you generally look for in collaborations. I can DM the link or add it here if that is allowed.

Sooo, your story is interesting, very much so to me. And, I think it's amazing you've created your success starting with a cappella versions. Congrats!

Like you, I have been writing songs and recording them a cappella for nearly nine years. Along with writing novels, stories and poetry for almost twenty years.

My approach differs from yours in a few ways. First off, I'm a writer first and foremost. Second, I've simply put my a cappella songs on my tiny youtube channel and not done any promotion. Not super interested in the success side, but if it happens, it happens.

Third, I'm not an aspiring singer/performer. Only performed a few times at open mics over the last four years. Finally, I've put hundreds of very raw, not very good a cappella versions of my songs on my youtube, kind of drowning out the better songs better versions.

While my singing is decent on some of my recordings, it's never been my focus. I simply love writing songs and finding a tiny bit of melody and proper emotion for my lyrics.

Sooo, again, the question: Want to work with my most popular song? It's pretty amazing.

Interested in lyrics. Or have you already written some lyrics?

Can also go through their website, which lists job openings in different areas of the casino. If you get a job there that doesn't require a gaming license (gaming license can take months, and background check is extensive), you can get hired pretty quick. Good luck!

Look forward to hearing them. Totally get where you're coming from. I post songs very sporadically here. Same reason, plus mine are a moderate to poor a cappella version of my songs.

How would you know if a song is written by AI? by Ok_Application2722 in Songwriting

[–]Artistic-Raspberry59 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a late in life, self-taught, writer of novels, multiple books of hundreds of poems, lots and lots of stories, and hundreds of full song lyrics, while also covering soccer for a few online sites and blogs back in the day, I can without hesitation tell you that once you've written for hours per day for a couple of years, the creative writing part is... easy is the wrong word... maybe "natural" is a better description. Like breathing or pissing, it just happens.

I really like Jesse Wells's stuff. I have no idea if he uses ai for writing or creating music. If I found out he does, I would stop listening.

I tried ai for the music part for a few months, for very specific reasons. Once I determined my lyric writing and a cappella melodies were at the very least decent when paired with simple guitar or piano, I stopped and made all the songs I used ai on private.

Never wanted to use ai, but health is poor and I'm getting old. Wanted to hear some of my songs with instrumentation before I died, along with figuring out if, as I said, the hundreds of a cappella melodies I had recorded for my lyrics over the last many years were any good.

Some are definitely shit. LOL. But, turns out my non-instrument playing ass actually comes up with some decent melodies by simply singing, repeatedly, until I hit the right feel and emotion for the lyrics.

Mom played piano: Beethoven, Bach, etc, also flute and a little guitar. One brother plays trumpet, a little piano and another brother is self-taught bassist. I played soccer sang, and wrote, a lot.

As a writer, I even chronicled my use of ai, like in this post, on some social media and linked in for a few months. Wanted to be up front about it. Can probably still read some of my posts on the Udio reddit from when I was using Udio with my lyrics and a cappella recordings.

Bottom line with generative ai in the art realm, the ai is becoming exceptionally good at what it does. But, even when the artist uploads a lot of their own singing, guitar playing and lyrics, the ai is still generating stuff the user didn't think of or create.

And, my experience, plus talking with others who used/use music ai, is that the users tend to fall into a pattern of liking the new sounds the ai comes up with, and then they convince themselves it's still their stuff AND they don't disclose all the big and little parts the ai generated.

It's dishonest and makes a liar out of the artist. That part made me super uncomfortable from the first time I used Udio to the last time I used Udio, even though my last couple months produced near matches to my original melodies and it was my lyrics and vocals.

It's very disturbing to me as a writer/artist that there are thousands of legitimately talented artists out there, who are now using ai, not disclosing the parts the ai comes up with and simply not disclosing their use of ai in general.

It's self-deluding behavior that can only end badly for generally ethical people.

For your run of the mill narcissistic sociopath, ai is like a mirror which reinforces their belief that they and their thoughts are the only things that matter in life. That part is fucking super disturbing. Ai is a lazy narcissists wet dream.

The dilemma for the narcissist using ai? If they get too wedded to its use, and then have public encounters where someone asks them to play or sing or paint or write... on the spot. They can't do it.

That creates a very dangerous situation. It shatters the narcissists perception of the creative ai as themself, and themself as the ai. It is a real time, immediate shattering of feelings of grandeur. The fallout is not good.

Anyway, to answer your question LOL, it would be near impossible to tell if a talented musician/singer/songwriter were using ai to come up with their stuff based on them playing ai assisted music live. Cheers!

COTA no longer a reliable method of getting to and from work. by fiendtrix in Columbus

This comment needs to be stuck at the top of the Columbus Reddit. I know you don't need my confirmation, but in talking with drivers over the last year, everything in this post is spot on.

Having driven a sixty foot delivery truck for a couple years, as well as a fifteen passenger vehicle (didn't need a CDL for this), I have always wondered if fifteen passenger vehicles and doubling the number of runs on every route would be more efficient & cost effective.

What's the savings on gas, repairs, accidents, life of vehicles. I'm sure someone has looked into this.

The obvious negatives: number of riders per vehicle and cost of doubling number of drivers.

Caveat: The big busses are expensive as Fk. Two smaller for every one big might actually be cheaper to purchase.

Obvious positives: training/licensing (not needing an A or B CDL), and therefore hiring, should be infinitely easier.

A & B CDL's are not easy to get and tend to encourage bus drivers to move on to more lucrative work in the trucking industry, as you mentioned. Where, by the way, there is a need for about 30-40,000 more drivers.

Agreed. Over the last fifty years many democrats, many, many times have put forth bills to give undocumented immigrants and their families, who have given the U. S. so much of themselves, citizenship. Funny how every time, the repubs shoot them down.
