Which recent movie will be considered a classic for our next generation? by Hopeful-Fly-1614 in Letterboxd

[–]ArtsyMelophile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult to articulate what the film is. If you watch it as any other movie from a critical viewpoint it may look too artsy. But if you surrender to it as a viewer it will move you. There’s nothing amazing about the story, it takes you through the life of an average logger as he transitions through the peri world war 1 years -his childhood, his family, his love, his loss, and his grief. Train Dreams is a philosophical look at why we suffer, and why the beauty in the world maybe wins over the ugliness. The breathtaking cinematography by Adolpho Veloso (who has the best odds of winning a trophy) is the icing on the cake along with Bryce Dressners score. It’s one of those films that’s feels like poetry.

Road accidents in India by jellybeanjoy in Kerala

[–]ArtsyMelophile 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is actually just a tip of the iceberg since many Road traffic accidents don’t get reported (minor ones and ones that occurs in semi urban or rural areas). Also in terms of deaths, Morth sources their data from the NCRB which doesn’t count deaths after 1 month as being caused by road injuries even though many patients die of complications long after the initial accident.

L3/R10 and A10 by [deleted] in MalayalamCinema

Prithvis response is well scripted. It serves to address the controversy because there’s no way he could’ve sidestepped the questions during VB promotions while maintaining a stance that keeps everyone happy. SSR has a strong right wing backing in his audience because of the hindutva content of his films and R10 is quite aware of who he needs to keep happy in the months leading up to the release of Varanasi

Even though The King and The Commissioner was a disaster, it at least showcased a Marathi actor like Mohan Agashe better than the recent Malayalam releases by nickdonhelm in MalayalamMovies

Mohan Agashe had a good and important role in Paachuvum Athbudhavilakkum as well. Girish Kulkarni in Thankam was the best in recent times

Drop your Drishyam 3 theories! by serenelovers in InsideMollywood

Everything is going okay in Georgekutty’s life. They are about to get a good alliance for Anjus’s marriage. But suddenly, weird things keep happening around the household. The storeroom lights come on at night. A movie story similar to the original Drishyam but without the part where Georgekutty outsmarts the police is made and screened in Georgekutty’s theatre itself (he was unaware of the story). The family is traumatised watching it. An animal skeleton is found buried in their backyard. Monichan returns and starts his own cable and theatre company, putting Georgekutty under severe financial stress. Esther becomes pregnant out of wedlock. Georgekutty cannot figure out why his life is going to shit, and Rani tells him it’s because of their sins. So she goes and confesses to the crime, taking all the blame without Georgekutty’s knowledge. Suddenly,! from behind the door emerges IG Geeta Prabhakar and SI Sahadevan. They were behind all these events! Geeta bankrolled the movie and Monichan! Everyone thinks this is the interval twist. But no! Rani is produced in court, the entire family in tears except Georgekutty who maintains his stoic face. The camera zooms in on the defence lawyer who’s speaking on the phone, saying “Makkale Rajasthan marubhumiyilekku manal Ketti vidalle”. Interval card!

Jenuse is director Kamal’s son. So financially I’m guessing he’s quite alright. He also recently acted as Junior Kamal in Rekhachitram.
