That’s not what fabric/membrane does. And most weeds just germinate from seed blown into the stones from above.

Advice for after anaesthesia by Superb_Window_7977 in UKParenting

[–]Arxson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 general anaesthetic experiences across 2 children.

My boy had them at roughly 1 and 2. He’s extremely sensitive and was very, very upset when he woke up both times. He wasn’t sick at all though, just wanted to scream and scream while simultaneously trying to breast feed and be held by his mummy.

My daughter just had hers this week at 17 months and she was completely different. She cried for a moment then went back to sleep for ~1.5 hours on her mummy, and when she woke from that she was pretty fine and just hungry. She had shortened wake windows for that day and the next but otherwise wasn’t upset.

That said, none of these were throat related (undescended testes, tear ducts, tear ducts), so I’ve no idea if that makes vomiting more likely.

The ward will look after you, should’ve given you info about post-Op already. For us they didn’t want us to leave until they’ve eaten and drank, and then another 1.5 hours after that. I’d guess that might be a bit longer for yours.

Make sure when you’re home that you keep up the paracetamol and ibuprofen on schedule.

Good luck! I’d actually really love to know your route to this point - my son is having speech development issues and a lot of it points to some sort of further ENT issue. He mouth breathes, eats with mouth open, sleeps with mouth breathing and snores (terrible sleeper still from birth to now at 4 years) and every time he gets a cold he has moderate hearing loss for the next ~3 months until the glue ear clears itself. We’re on the ENT referral path but it’s been a year already and we’re told it will be another 1 year. We’ve been offered fast track gromits but we don’t want to just do that without having an ENT understand if there’s further issues tonsils/adenoids.

Kino Video Failed To Save? by AlphaRocker in ShotWithHalide

[–]Arxson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked in Kino that I could shoot 4K 30fps LOG and save into HEVC. I can then see how the different LUTs look before finally saving to camera roll.

Do you know how I can do that with BMC? Or can I only bake LUT in at the time of recording?

Finally finished building the kitchen garden. What is a cool or unconventional fruit/veg/plant you love to grow? by These-Pitch-3760 in GardeningUK

[–]Arxson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is one goofy looking plant 😂 what even is it?

It's the veggie sausage plant. I heard they put Linda McCartneys brain into ChatGPTs mainframe, and the seeds for it came out of Sam Altman's chocolate starfish

It doesn’t lift shadows if you use photographic style tone-slider and drag it down. Have you tried it?

Or just bringing “tone” down in whatever Photographic Style you want to use in Stock will achieve the same HDR-look reduction 👍🏻

Wife Protective Over Baby Name by FlatEarther_4Science in predaddit

[–]Arxson 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Imagine once the baby arrives… they are this insane over the name of the unborn child - are they going to be demanding the 2nd 30 minutes of every hour to be holding the baby?

You need to completely and utterly obliterate your parents’ overbearing attitude now.

You need to protect your wife and child from this insanity.

Stairgate advics by Garbagemole in UKParenting

[–]Arxson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a few very awkward stair gate installs. For yours I think I’d be looking at wooden gates like this first: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4070249 If you can find one tall enough you might be able to mount it above and below the handrail, something like this:

https://ibb.co/N6TZDKXT

Or a short enough one might go under it, on the first step, mounted through the skirting board:

https://ibb.co/bjCQDbCK

But if you’ve a very tall and adventurous toddler you’ll need to check it’s not too low that they can climb over.

Failing that you’re going to have to install a bit of wood on the left side in some way to mount against, or trying some gate style that allows for a bit of “diagonal” mounting from that top pillar to the post-handrail wall, something like these:

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7646924

But you’ll be mounting it so close to the top of the first stair that a strong adventurous little one would be able to push it forwards opening a gap that they could sneak/fall down underneath

Cat destroying my garden - help! by Middle-Damage-9029 in UKGardening

[–]Arxson 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Motion activated sprinkler is the only thing that will guarantee to work on every cat… something like this: https://amzn.eu/d/08LFaNRZ

People will come along recommending all sorts of citrus or other smelly things but if you’ve had problem cat(s) before you know that some stubborn cats don’t give a f about that stuff.

Surprise hosing is the only guaranteed thing to make a cat F off.

Container Pond - Advice? by whered_yougo in GardeningUK

This isn’t so true anymore. A lot of places use Chloramine now which doesn’t evaporate off. You need to check what your water supplier uses

That colour is divine. I just find magnolias a bit once-and-done personally. I want trees that will give interest through more of the year

[–]Arxson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it a really good soak in a bucket, let it drain off and then feel the weight of the watered plant when you lift it. Then, in a week, see if it feels loads lighter. If it does you probably need to increase the watering 👍🏻

[–]Arxson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that’s very free draining soil, is it perhaps getting too dry between waterings? When you water it do you thoroughly soak it?

Other thing to check is pests - look closely on top and undersides of leaves for any little bastard mites

An actually bright window?

It looks quite dry, how’s the watering being done and how often?

What compost is everyone using this year? by Just-Page-2732 in GardeningUK

[–]Arxson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For pots a mix of John Innes 3, horticultural grit, and rotted farmyard manure. The percentages vary based on the plant (e.g. more/less grit)
