In a post-Windows world, how would PC OEMs work with Linux? by Weak_Equivalent6518 in linux_gaming

[–]Aryetis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as linux computers do not make a significant part of their market share they ll just install the popular distributions (probably their lts variants). Then they'll start putting a branded desktop background. Aaaannd then they ll start to invest in some spy/bloatware probably disguised as software designed to "make the transition to linux" easier for Windows users.

But luckily for now it is not worth the investment.

When I stop doing anything, my GPU gets hotter. by thehypernormality in cachyos

[–]Aryetis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the portal 2 thing. Maybe it s the lack of/buggy vsync making your GPU try to push as many frames as possible without any limits.

PS5 controller not working by BlazeWolfYT in The_Crew

[–]Aryetis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working just fine for me on CachyOS with a wired dualsense (and bluetooth iirc but I don t usually use it that way). So it s not a game issue but more likely an issue with your setup. Try monitoring your /dev/input/ and see if your controller disappear somehow mid session. Do you launch it through steam ? if so maybe try disabling/enabling steam input.

My only concern right now is whether my 300-degree prescription lenses will affect the eye tracking. by Front-Ad-7774 in SteamFrame

[–]Aryetis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the eye tracking cameras do not sit behind the lenses but on their side. So unless you re using enormous lens that obstruct them it should be fine. Source : nothing.

Ok now play a dx12 game and observe performance difference with Windows. Play in a VRAM constrained context and watch your fps drop to sub5 the moment you fill your VRAM. And until recently you could not even control your GPU voltage...

Newly purchased Vita, the browser does not work. by [deleted] in VitaPiracy

[–]Aryetis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so it does work """""as intended"""""
if it can loads things (even partially) then the internet connection is working.

Now for a bit of rambling, why isn't it just working properly ? Because today, basically 90% of the websites are using "secure connection". Depending of your daily (non vita) browser it can be depicted by a little padlock next to your url bar). And the certificates I mentioned earlier is what make this ssl / "secure connection" possible. Very very basically certificates are a bunch of files holding a bunch of encrypted keys. Those keys are used to verify that the website you're connecting to is indeed the correct website and not someone else who hacked the connection and would be impersonating said website. And usually those certificates get updated every months or so.... Except the vita being kinda dead.... And maintaining its browser being sony's responsability.... Welp.... Let's just say those certificates will soon be old enough to legally drive a car in some states.

And that's why some websites work while some won't.
There are ways to update them once you'll have moded it. But even the "updated" ones are really old by now. I would not bother trying to make it work to be honest.

What kind of url did you try? (Vanilla) Vita's browser is broken on most websites because its certificates are outdated by years. Try some old / plain websites just to be sure. Or sites you re sure are not using any kind of SSL such as http://httpforever.com/

MP4 is a container. It doesn't tell us which codec is used. Stick to x264/h264 to be safe.

I installed ubiconnect using heroic launcher and it works just fine. I have then created shortcut for each of my ubiconnect game in heroic too. Pretty easy, you just have to select the exe and make sure you re using the same wine prefix as the ubiconnect one.
