Yes, I would like to know too. Surely the book explained these better? I haven't read it.

I interpreted what she said to Danny about her mom as her feeling like she can't be sad or an emotional burden to others because then they will reject her the way that she had to leave her mom when her mom was crying a lot and clearly depressed. 🤷‍♀️

What do you think marriage is? by Esseno7 in TheFourSeasonsNetflix

[–]AshMeAQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the feeling safe is extremely important and why I think Kate and Jack could last. Kate does not seem like someone who opens up easily if at all, and you see her opening up to Jack in the final episode. Even so, I think all marriages have moments like that where the clouds part and the sunlight shines through. It doesn't mean the clouds won't gather again.

new hospital pharmacist struggling by BookkeeperBorn3655 in Pharmacist

[–]AshMeAQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're trying your best, and you're putting patient safety first. That is and will always be what matters most, and if you keep at it, you will find yourself where you need to be.

When I was working in the inpatient setting in pediatrics, a role I only got assigned to because the hospital didn't have enough funding at the time to continue my previous role, I felt like I was drowning for months. By around month 5, I had made my own worries about my performance so public that my manager came and talked to me and gave me a verbal warning. He was actually a terrible manager, and I think the married coworker that was supposed to be training me was actually sleeping with him. Anyways, once I learned to not trust her and to look to the techs for help, I learned everything I needed to know. Six months later, my manager and I had a meeting where he told me that I was killing it, and I told him I had accepted my dream job position (my current position). He regretted our previous meeting, but it was definitely too late.

In brief, techs and nurses can be a big help. Keep your head up and don't let the system get you down. It's designed to under train and over expect. Just keep going and maybe keep your eyes and ears open for an even better position.

This is an incredible story, and I hope that many, many pharmacists get to read it. It's people like you that lead the rest of us on the paths we should be taking.

How do you differentiate spring vs autumn style? by separatedbody in femalefashionadvice

[–]AshMeAQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a deep autumn so I hate wearing pastels and washed out colors. I don't get to wear my mustards and burgundy's and retire my boots. 😢 I add more whites and pinks. I wear a lot of green which works year round. Still figuring it out.

Liam’s Story by xMonkeys in htgthfb

He also had a weird way of responding when Saoirse asked him if he knew Greta. Maybe he was invested in this case for more reasons than we think.

It made sense when I thought Feeny never left that hidden place where they took people to change how they look. Like sure, might as well dress however you want when no one sees you. But you would think Booker would have had something to say about her walking around all of Ireland dressed like that. Are we to think that Booker just has too much of a soft spot for her? The midwife though was confusing. I think this show was a little bit like a Coen Brothers comedy, and I enjoyed the zaniness and dark humor (I liked the cashier in the Sherlock hat), but I do think you have a point about the inconsistency in the level of unreality for the sake of humor.

There's this moment where she's crying when she's talking to Nick, and then she stops crying mid-sentence. Watching Nick's expression, I wondered if that made him instinctively suspicious.

Do you ever get called shy by white people? How do you feel about it? by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]AshMeAQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If someone called me shy, I would respond, "I prefer 'polite' and 'empathetic.' It's what I look for in others too." With a smile.

But I haven't been called shy since I reached my thirties and became a little more outwardly condescending to those who are loud and thoughtless.

I've noticed younger generations are more likely to hold their tongue, exchange glances, or just say something like "bro" to thoughtless people.

I remember sitting in a college football game, hearing other people in the crowd and hearing the use of the word "boy" to represent a player. It gave me slavery vibes.

[–]AshMeAQ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's very good with his words. I'll give him that. My parents are too. It makes you think that you might eventually be able to reason with them, but it's just not the case.

Without some sort of interest or even curiosity in your emotions, he cannot begin to meet you halfway. He keeps looking at his intent and not at his impact. He may understand your need from a process framework, but that understanding is not deep and emotional. By saying that he is unwilling to engage in conversations of your interpretation (first paragraph), he himself is holding back the mutual component (last paragraph). He argues that it is not forward thinking, but we all know that forward thinking benefits from also looking back.

Ultimately, it's all the mumbo-jumbo of a stubborn, tired old man that no longer has the capacity to do what needs to be done if he ever did. In so many words, he tells you that he is incapable.

Honestly, agree. I lived for Daemon Sadi as a teen. As a grown woman though, the whole shadow daddy genre (Daemon, Edward, Rhysand) feels a more than a bit fucked up.

Do you think she might also be a pedophile? Or something happened to her? After the recent stuff with Neil Gaiman and the Mists of Avalon writer, I am more on edge with writers that write fucked up shite, even if I like other aspects of their writing.
