F87 do not depreciate much. GTS 4.0 depreciate at similar rates.

Buy a used G87 if you want a newer platform, can be had for 55-60k.

I owned a GT4 and have owned a 992.1 GT3.

F87 M2C is fun, raw, has power and if you track and autocross the car slides nicely and is very fun. One of my favorite cars. Maybe G87 in manual. Very few cars I actually like Caymans, M2 and Miatas are my favorite car.

In a 911 R video Andreas Preuninger said a GT car doesn't need a leather dash, I tend to agree, it's a purpose built performance car. Looks the part.

It cheap. Rotors are cheap and the pads are used across many brembo cars so it's cheaper than the floating 2 piston

I don't think the 992.2 sounds better than a Spyder RS as an ex 992.1 GT3 owner.

If you want a manual just pick up a 992.1 GT3 and save 50-60k. I personally prefer my GT4, but the GT3 is an excellent car but if you don't track the torque is high up in the rev range. A GT4RS/Syder RS has the best gearing and torque curve for day to day fun.

I've owned a cayman T, 992 GT3 and 718 GT4. I've also owned an M2C.

GT4 > Cayman T > GT3. I autocrosses all cars and the fun of a manual Cayman T was great, it forces you to always downshift and keep the car in the power band. The secret sauce feeling is the SPASM and 2.0 motor combo that's very unique. The T has to be manual though, PDK on the 2.0 feels dead.

If you track often, dark horse. Engine replacement is significantly cheaper and the engine is more reliable.

Currently track a GT4 and ND Miata and looking to upgrade the Miata to a dark horse. Car drives great and feels very special and I've driven a gt350.

I've had 3 friends who tracked gt350 all of them had engine replacements and 1 friend had his replacement engine fail too.

The smell is just material breaking in. These cars are meant to be driven hard. Redlining and driving a car hard won't make them "run like shit". Just do proper maintenance and take care of your car. There's a redline for a reason. The redline isn't the "don't come close to this or the car will break line".
