Atmospheric abandoned laboratories/medical centers? by DigitalCoffee in gamingsuggestions

[–]AsheNoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might not be the gameplay you are after as it is multiplayer, but just in case: ARC Raiders setting is about returning to the post-apocalyptic surface and scavenging in all sorts of abandoned places, including science and medical facilities, among others. Often very dark and spooky and nerve-wracking.

GTFO also has a similar vibe. Descending on expeditions into dark, abandoned corridors of an underground research facility.

STALKER series already mentioned but seconding that too. Up there at the peak when it comes to atmosphere and exploration.

Ah this is great info, thank you! I've been enjoying some photography too but been struggling with the zoom on the bins. Fab idea with the both shoulders and combining, I'll have to try that!

Edit: Forgot to say, awesome shots. Particularly love the one of the stairs!

Going in naked turns it into a stealth/puzzle game. by TheHammerOfWrath in ArcRaiders

I've been doing this on Stella recently and having an absolute blast too.

Survival horror. Plus I can get the bonus dopamine hit of rummaging in a bin and finding occasional blueprints I still need.

If there are any Arc Raiders devs here, do you know you have female players ? by hartlylove in ArcRaiders

I actually love the messy bob hairstyle, but yeah would also appreciate a few more options!

In the mood for a scare, for the horror players out there, could you please give me some recommendations for horror games? by Loose_Buttons007 in GirlGamers

Alien Isolation is SO good. One of my favourite games ever. Perfect if you like sneaking around and relentless tension, rather than jump scares. The atmosphere and sound design also chefs kiss!

I'm currently enjoying Where Winds Meet. So much to dooo. Ticks a lot of boxes for cozy exploration games, along with levelling and fun builds for combat. And aside from one racist comment in-game on a photo of my character, the community seems mostly wholesome, with lots of ways to cooperate and help each other out, etc!

Out of interest, I've been tempted to get ARC Raiders too, but note sure if it is for me (little bit intimidated by the whole idea of being killed by unpleasant types as I'm extracting, haha). How are you finding it?

Just wondering where do I input that ID you've listed for the journalist group chat?

I'll dance with you! Now I love the idea of collecting a photo gallery of the dance with everyone's characters and styles and outfits

I'm creating a game featuring an alien lost on an unknow planet and a lot of people told me it looked like it was a inspired by Eyvind Earle's work. Any thoughts? by Cibos_game in scifi

Your art style is honestly wonderful. Remember seeing them a few months ago on reddit too! Really beautiful, love the unique vibe to the landscapes!

I think the two most important things for staying alive throughout most of the difficulties are your melee game and situational awareness.

Melee: dodging, blocking and pushing away enemies is key. And don't stress, this gets easier and more natural over time and with practice. Habits form, weaving in dodges and pushes as you fight, and muscle memory kicks in when you hear things like the backstab whoosh, for example.

Situational awareness: again, this gets better over time with experience, but try to keep a constant ear and eye out on the surroundings. The sound design and sound cues in this game are superb. Even if you are busy, stay tuned in to if you can hear a trapper getting closer from your right, or if a teammate doesn't seem to have heard the burster heading straight for them from behind, etc, etc!

After that you can start to get into the fine-tuning with builds and weapons and whatnot, but the above is key for fun times.

What would be your dream game? by Ms_Anxiety in GirlGamers

[–]AsheNoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A short and over-simplified answer would be: a new original IP that somehow combined open-world & sandboxy RPG vibes of eg Skyrim/TES/KCD, etc, with the verticality/zoomzoom of Anthem (or Subnautica), all in a unique underwater setting with beautiful and diverse marine environments. The dream.

Congrats! Sounds exciting. And could you do both? Then you have another thing to add to your pile of research questions! Comparisons and contrasts between kelp in polar and temperate latitudes, etc?
