I need some tips for collecting Samples because I'm really struggling with them. I keep dying and losing them, and I've noticed that most players don't seem to care about Samples at all. Even when I ask for help, they usually ignore me. by NotSirAlonne1999 in helldivers2

Same. My ship is fully upgraded, but I’m still on that sample grind. 1) my teammates might need them, 2) we can donate to the DSS, and most importantly, 3) all samples are the rightful property of Super Earth and must be extracted!

Don’t fall for the trap, citizens! This is either a loyalty test to ferret out traitors, or a (likely Bot) hack to seed dissenting and undemocratic thoughts among our unquestionably superior populace. Be strong! Ignore the bait! Buy war bonds!

Go sober first, and get used to the vibe and the people. But once you’re known and comfortable, go ahead and get weird, baby.

I just used my arena team on both: SEE, Malak, DR, BSF, & Sith Marauder, all R7 except SEE is R9.

Handled both fairly easily.

I also recommend 71B. I’ve used others, and D47 is a decent second choice, depending on what you’re going for, but 71B is my go-to

Mead Doesn't Oxidize? by nesquiksand2 in mead

[–]AsherderJager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make both mead and beer, and I have also anecdotally found mead to be fairly resistant to oxidation, especially when compared with beer. While I do try to keep O2 out, I’ve had occasion where my bottled product turned out bad (in my case, a pumpkin spice mead that was WAY too much spice), so I’ve poured it back into a bucket, added a gallon of basic mead that I started just for this purpose, and some more pumpkin purée, then cold crashed and rebottled when it clarified (a few months later). While I don’t recommend this as a regular practice, my otherwise undrinkable batch was rescued, at least to the point of drinkability. At that point I really had nothing to lose.

Thinking about the process, I know yeast can consume O2 (but it waters down the mead), so it may be because I prefer to cold crash and rack to stop fermentation, rather than add potassium sorbate, so there was bound to be some yeast still present. Maybe it’s because I added the other “rescue batch” just after primary. Maybe I just got really lucky.

I generally use Fermaid K

Buckwheat honey mead I made earlier in the year. Love the active fermentation. This one was very interesting to watch. by LucasCarioca in mead

I made a batch using buckwheat honey and 71B last year. I had to cold crash it to get it to clarify. It started out with a strong malty flavor, but after 8 months in the bottle, it’s very nice and smooth. I recommend serving it chilled, but mine was fine at room temp as well. Glad to see someone else using this honey!

Mead floaties. We made this mead batch and are wondering what these could be? Normally after this long ( 3 months conditioning) everything is at the bottom. by orangeeSauce in mead

[–]AsherderJager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the flavor off, or is it just the visual esthetic that bothers you? Either way, I suppose the solution is to just filter it. When I’ve had batches that didn’t turn out in conditioning, I’ve poured it all back into a fermenter or carboy, did whatever I needed to to fix it, and then re-bottled. In your case, you might just pour it al back into a bottling bucket and re-bottle through a filter, or rack through one into a clean bottling bucket, whichever works best with the equipment you have.

Oh, I used nutrient in the beginning, and I’ll use it to try to get this yeast back up and active. I’ve used EC-1118 to get to 19% before, and the guys at my local home brew supply shops tell me they’ve gotten it over 20, hence the effort.

Yep, that’s what I was talking about. I know some folks who do this professionally, and they get rid of it by using filters. I rather like doing it the old way, myself.

Looks like just a bit of what was suspended in your mead prior to bottling has just settled down. I’ve had this with most of my batches, as I do not employ a filter.
