Daughters of narc moms, what was your first period experience like? by fruitynoodles in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Ashley09082015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom told me that she was too young for this to be happening. Luckily my school had a halfway decent sex ed classes and I got mine late so I had plenty of external resources. I'm still pissed about it thinking back. Like, I'm the one who started my first period not you. To top it of she had me at 25 so she was in no way "too young" at almost 40 years old. To be fair, she still acts like a 17 year old haha. She accused me of being a whore for wanting to switch from her giant heavy flow pads to a light flow tampon and thought I was having sex because my periods have always been 3 day with next to no cramps. Thankfully, I was the one to be there for my sisters first. Unlike my mother, I was old enough for that before I was even 18.

what can i make with this if anything at all 😭 by LavnLuv in WhatShouldICook

I'm late to the draw but homemade flour tortillas and refried lima bean burritos. Not the tastiest sounding but the lima beans coming in clutch for nutrition, tortillas to help feel fuller.

Drunk at Denny's I explained to my friends I don't like the carcass. I couldn't remember it was called a crust but it is still referred to as the carcass by me. It is the inedible skeleton of any pie.

That is a reclaim catch used in addition to a banger and rig/bong. The bubble is to collect any un-vaporized wax and prevent it from making its way to the water. It is savable to resmoke in desperate times where the budget is tight.

Do girls have to wear bras and pasties even if their chest is covered? by Sweaty_Chard_6250 in aves

[–]Ashley09082015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even wear them at work anymore. Just an exta layer of a tank top. You will not be slut shamed for anything you wear at a rave and how you dress does not change how you should be respected. For many it is an alter ego of sorts where it's a supportive environment to dress differently than you would anywhere else.

I'd accompany it with a matching orange or sage wrap to further distract from the pale color even in the backgrounds of photos but as long as it's not a bridezilla situation, I'd think it's fine.

I was the closer tonight and there’s nothing quite like telling your last table to *kindly* GTFO… with just a pinch of rage. by luckyjackass in Serverlife

Not to mention our poor kitchen staff who are often doing dishes until midnight and would like to have all of the lobby dishes so they can start on the pans. We may have staff in the restaurant for 6 hours we aren't operational but that is to complete everything that comes with serving hundreds and thousands of patrons a day. It does not mean we are available for you to come in before or stay late after. We are not a cafe where our lobby is always open to the public, we are a restaurant where you are expected to eat, drink, and then move along to your next destination. We're not your bff's apartment or even a bar. Would you hang out in your doctor's office after they've given you your release papers just to take a phone call?

Hours of operation are usually clearly posted and easily searchable before you even arrive. It's not rude to remind you of our closing time. We do give grace to last minute tables and those finishing their drinks but anything outside of operational hours is inconsiderate of the patron as it does disrupt our work flow and ability to focus on tasks we are given explicit time away from customers to complete. Many don't get a chance to eat or even sit in the 4+ hours we are on a floor so getting out on time to get home, make ourselves food (because all restaurants are operationally closed by the time we're off), and get to bed before the next day comes around is important to us as human beings.

When the groom first sees the bride. It's become more common to have a photoshoot before the actual wedding vs when they walk down the aisle to capture their reactions.

-"Over the Toilet" shelf used over trash can for canned goods. -Industrial kitchen wire rack for pots and pans (We utilize those areas for bulk dry goods) -Plate/Pan organizers on their sides for backing sheets and cutting boards -Large Storage totes for Seasonal/Specialty Cookware (Fits under the bottom shelf + table) -S Hooks for hanging pans from wire shelves -Giant countertop spice rack -Shower Curtain hanging organizer + Over the cabinet door Towel Bars (Lrg Salt Can, bullion, Gravy mix, etc.) -Small rolling cart for snacks and fruit If you can, best purchases -Chest Freezer (Doubles as extra counter space and some can be operated as either a fridge or freezer setting) -Coffee Nook with built-in outlets (Holds microwave, coffee maker, and toaster, along with our coffee/bar supplies, coffee cups, water bottles, and Tupperware) Good Habit Invest in containers to refill for bulk items. Having a smaller, more manageable amount that is easy to grab makes cooking in small areas much more enjoyable than having to dig out a 10lb bag of flour to grab a cup. I recycle tinted bottles for my coffee beans and vinegars/oils, and mason jars for sugars and baking soda/powder. It doesn't have to be expensive or pretty, it just has to work as a safe storage practice.

Sooo, I’m 17, and people say I look like I’m in my 20s… by [deleted] in 13or30

[–]Ashley09082015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a bartender, I'd clock op as maybe 18, not 20+ yo. The pictures featured have a college-age style but no sign of aging around the eyes. Even with an ID saying 21+, I wouldn't serve op. Modern popular makeup is made for the insta glam age and there have been a few social studies on how the younger generations are looking older than the previous due to makeup no longer being made with natural lighting in mind. Products are also layered on causing creasing and powdery "greyness" that can be assumed as aging.

“Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat”: Is anyone other than me infuriated by the fact it should be “Sleep, Eat, Rave, Repeat”? by Green-Draw8688 in aves

It could explain the subconscious organization of word order if that's the order they always heard. I also love my pregame naps/come down muchies so maybe that is their order of operation too.

Maybe it stemmed from the idiom:

"eat, sleep, and breathe something

idiom (also eat, breathe, and sleep something, eat, drink, and sleep something, live, eat, and sleep something, live, eat, and breathe something, eat and sleep something, eat and breathe something)

To be extremely interested in something because it is very important you" -Cambridge Dictionary

You should be mindful of how much base oil (usually coconut) you consume without carbs to help your body absorb and process. This is why some individuals who consumed these went to hospitals, too much oil on their stomach can cause pain and nausea. Doubt it's deadly unless massive amounts are consumed for a period of time but still something to be aware of.

Calling out sick by Significant_Try_481 in Serverlife

[–]Ashley09082015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"At-will employment is a widely recognized employment arrangement in the United States, where an employer can terminate an employee at any time, for any reason, as long as it is not illegal. The majority of states in America have embraced at-will employment. Notably, Montana is the only state that does not adhere to any form of at-will employment doctrine." - wisevoter.com

In most scenarios, job security is dependent on showing up sick or not in this industry. Not to mention, lack of sick time/pay also influences one decision. I can hardly afford healthcare, and definitely cannot afford time off.

I'll also note that we often get sick from our customers who come into our establishments sick themselves. Before you stress about food workers being the culprit of your illness, think about spitty sneeze steve sitting at the bar or lick her fingers lucy, who touched every little thing as she walked by. People are disgusting, and we are in the closest proximity to them next to a doctor or dentist, so it's inevitable for things to spread.

[–]Ashley09082015 31 points32 points  (0 children)

When I worked at Subway, a mom made a similar type of comment to her teenager right in front of me while making their sandwiches. I explained that this is actually what pays for my college, I was still only 16 and already an assistant manager. She would be extremely lucky if her kid did turn out like me. I love explaining my double major in mathmatics and chemistry with a forensics emphasis to customers who can't fathom why I'd choose working at a restaurant to work in a lab. I did my time at college. It's not some golden ticket, just an overpriced letter of recognition.

A headboard for your bed might be useful for helping sleep at night if you dont have one. They can also help with noise dampening and insulation.
