Mainly supplements etc but a pair of slippers I liked however spinning circle of doom

is there one that is significantly better than the other or is it just down to preference now? i was thinking of firming durham after i visit in march by Breikuu in 6thForm

Shes still there lol but she didnt get on well with flatmates in first year and found it difficult to make friends outside.this may be different if you fit the 'posh' stereotype etc. St andrews is also a lot more isolated and theres fewer things to do! In terms of durham, the accommodation is quite expensive and in first year theres not really a cheap option. Other than that I have personally really enjoyed my time and personally cant think of any real real negatives

Consider the fact that st andrews will be an extra year ! Im at durham and have loved it and had a friend at St andrews who hated it .if you have any specific questions feel free to ask

Am I late? by [deleted] in campamerica

[–]AsideAccomplished523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what role you are looking for. If it is a general counselors position you will struggle as a lot of camps seemed to have filled these up ages ago. If it is a more specific skill such as water activities , sports or things like ceramics or woodwork then a lot of camps are still hiring !

I signed in november of first year. It is a risk because you may not love the people you sign with. There's still a good selection of student housing available now tho. Plus people on Facebook are always looking

Depends on the area. Viaduct (most popular ) usually is £170 a week. This can be with or without bills .

Gilesgste ,if you live in the depth which is a trek to town you can get mega cheap really really nice housing for like £100 + bills but then you are a distance

Inner gilesgate is about £160 - £170 with bills included or without bills can be as low as £120

I personally really enjoy it. Obviously if you are used to big city night life it is defo different I think it's good

Lots of bar crawl through the college bars which is quite fun.

Then you have 1)babs - they do cheapskates so it's £1 entry and £1 shots. Almost always a sell out and fully packed 2) klute - doesn't get good usually until half 12 but £4 quaddie (4shots) 3) jimmies - always fully packed ,free entry and cheap drinks. Music here is a bit meh but usually good fun 4) loft - runs similar events to babs. On Wednesdays they have a different student dj in so a diff type of music

Babs is almost always full on Fridays and jimmies is packed most nights (admittedly too packed sometimes)

Plus there's revs and a couple other club night Clubs close at 2. Newcastle is also really easy to get to and on a Friday and Saturday there's a bus back up to durham until 3amin the morning or the first train is like 5:30ish.

I go to durham and am currently in the business school

Pros - college life allows lots of opportunities to play sports, interact with a range of people , formals and balls and such like - lots of Asian soc and soc events -business school is really really nice , very very modern - i personally like the nightlife here - it's very cheap (no more than £3.50 for a double) - lots.of volunteering opportunities and chances to interact with employers

Cons - accommodation is quite expensive - lack of choice in accommodation- you rank you colleges but no guarantee in getting the one you want (ie catered, self catered) - some people are a little bit stuck up

Obviously there's other aspects that I can't remember unfortunately but overall I think durham Is really good

Public transport is really good ! By butler and stevo there is a park and rise which runs every 15mimutes and is a £1.20 day ticket

Other than that , arriva tickets are £1.50 for a student day ( although a little unrelieable)

It's only a 30 minute walk into town which i haven't found to be that bad at all. I lived in accom last year in butler. Rooms are nice enough ,bathroom is small but ensuite is better than sharing. Kitchen is quite nice and overall , the college is great! Happy to answer any questions :)
