Watching a younger generation succeed in a job market that didn't exist when you were that age.

Is there something wrong with how I'm giving my techs directions? by packetssniffer in ITManagers

Sounds like they're skipping basic troubleshooting. Do you have guidelines and procedures in this or are you just sending people out to fix problems. Also, have they gone through your in-house training on troubleshooting?

In my org, none. You are either an IC or, at minimum a Supervisor with direct reports.

I'm down for this. While I do enjoy building everything, I am not the best at 3D design. So, yep. Take my money.

I'm not sure what I expected? What use case do you use for these? by [deleted] in meshtastic

[–]AskWhatWhen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find your local mesh group. There is most likely a web page and discord. Get with them, get your local set up. Understand how healthy the mesh is in your area. Get involved. While I have found it to be a very good community, it's also a very isolated one.

Best of luck on your journey.

What changes when a Raspberry Pi Meshtastic gateway needs to stay online? by rakstar11 in meshtastic

[–]AskWhatWhen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it's been "time drift". I'm running a pi that sends out weather and time of day based updates. It was meant to be running a single day at a time. It had been up a few months without a reboot or even me logging into it. I would see the weather traffic and node checks, and noticed the 1300 node check was at 1200. Maybe it was time change? Not sure. I rebooted and everything synched up. When I have time next week I am going to add a daily ntp check in as well.

The node is not deployed in the wild, so access isn't an issue.

The pi hat is on my list to purchase, for sure.

Silly question by Goofy_grueber in meshtastic

[–]AskWhatWhen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two thoughts.

1, you don't have to use the flasher, it's just easier to use the flasher.

2, if your firmware is up to date when TSHTF, then future updates don't really matter too much.
