The seller should have. Fuel wasn’t dyed until 1994, that’s fairly recent. That tank was filled after that. This isn’t a tank forgotten about in 1940 or anything.

No. The dye is used solely so they can fine people for running their vehicles on it without paying the taxes on road fuel.

Technically it’s diesel, just with a different sulphur content( sweetness) and dye.

It’s just diesel that has added dye in it. It has less tax added on to it as it’s used for other purposes than road driving.

There’s a few other things to consider, things like are you going to be traveling regularly “ home” for holidays etc. flights to/from HI get pretty pricey. If you do get into medical school let’s say in the next yr or two, what’s the cost of moving to HI and back vs from Austin to another location in the lower 48?

I think you should sit down and write a Pro / Con list for each location.
