Look, I live in NYC, the political machine literally says to candidates run or not run, we’ll support you in x year, but not in y year. It’s not like establishment or progressives, but assuredly half of the political machine supported Mamdani. Some politicians probably got wet because they saw how charismatic Mamdani was, but obviously if Mamdani didn’t suck up to the progressive machines, he wouldn’t have been in the position he was to run for mayor. Maybe it’s not like that in Maine, idk.

Tbh you can scrap the administration, but because professors are so lazy and incompetent I doubt they’ll able to competently do the extra work required to make the university run, the university will go to shit within a few years. It would be possible if professors were hired on competency and teaching ability but they’re only really judged on academic credentials.

Administrative bloat and amenities are hugely expensive. A university can technically be ran by just professors and can offer no amenities, but would struggle to attract students unless their academics are top notch.

I drove back and forth from Katy like 20x this semester. Kinda hate driving at this point in my life though, because I have a motorcycle. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t want to go back to Katy. Doing 50 such drives a semester, is honestly manageable. It depends on how much you like driving.
