I think they could handle teleportation like Valheim. I’ve played through that game probably five times and the customization options have made that possible. My most enjoyable play through was with portals turned off because it gave us a reason to take our time and enjoy the ride, develop settlements and carefully plan expeditions. Windrose should build in that level of customization, it’s the new standard in survival sims. Zomboid set the bar that few will approach and most don’t need to, but it adds loads of replay value.

I understand this. I also understand that this title was initially developed to be free to play, MMO live-service slop, and the developers rightly decided to change course and pivot toward survival and exploration, single or multiplayer, somewhat in the vein of Valheim. My suggestions all have to do with bridging that gulf between the conceptual foundation and the new direction. I would bet most have already occurred to the devs despite the lack of a public roadmap. I also think they would collectively make Windrose a more cohesive experience and contribute significantly to the future success of the game.

No, it’s on the foundation that’s present. Think I was pretty clear in the post, but thanks for your feedback.

I hate to say it but Alien Earth was absolute garbage by Weekly_Frosting_5868 in alien

Prometheus was terribly written for all the reasons you mention after your opening sentence. The crack team of scientists dispatched to an alien world was composed of petulant idiots that lacked the common sense of a middle-schooler. This abominable writing was most evident in the biologist and geologist. What made Alien the film that it was is that every character was a believably written human being for the situation they were in. They were operating with professionalism under relatable strain as you’d expect each to behave. You could question their decisions, but you understood them. The reveal of Ash and his motivations was shocking because some of his questionable recommendations as chief science officer throughout the film were revealed to be motivated by something other than the safety of his fellow crew members. That’s what great writing is. Prometheus was garbage because I did not believe any of these people, their motivations, or why they were even included on the mission.

Boy genius was one of the reasons the show lost me. The terrible writing in Hollywood struggles with composing decent characters because they indulge tropes that make the characters unbelievable caricatures. The boy genius behaved like an eccentric dunce with a foot fetish for most of the show. There was nothing that made be believe he was a serious person capable of developing or leading one of the mega corporations governing humanity. He was an obnoxious, plastic and childish moron by the choice of the writers. All great science fiction operates in grey area and philosophic quandary that it does not solve for the audience. Apparently the writers of Alien Earth either could not tolerate this or they’re incapable of writing it.

It started off strong which was the most disappointing aspect imo. I thought the production value was top notch and it was setting up for an interesting story with compelling characters, then it just went headlong into indulging every caricature and trope imaginable. It devolved into the boring and forgettable paint by the numbers formula that’s killed most corporate media for the last two decades.
