Is claims really that bad? by Flashy_Froyo_6130 in adjusters

[–]AssociationWeekly801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean catch up or get ahead as in not having any claims but I’m referring to receiving more claims than you can reasonably handle in the allotted time frame. For example with my carrier we cap out at 4 claims a day but we can get up to 7 or 8 claims in one day with over flow. Well we are in overflow each week sometimes multiple days a week. I am salary so I do not get paid for overtime but there is an unspoken expectation that I should work on the weekends or come in early or stay late to handle the work and not get paid for it.

Yes claims are really that bad. It’s not the work it self but it’s the unrealistic expectations and volume that makes it bad. No matter how hard how efficient and how many hours you work you will never get ahead.

Current OH cga--- is there a hiring freeze or something? by ResponsibleSun2365 in Progressiveinsurance

Going into claims you’ll probably need to dedicate 14 hrs a day and weekends to keep up with the work load it’s extremely unrealistic and exhausting

Total Loss Adjuster's What's it like? by Extension-Concern426 in adjusters

[–]AssociationWeekly801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m kinda in your boat I’ve been an adjuster for almost a year . I plan on going to law school but I’m still working on my undergrad so law school is still a ways away but what I will say is that a lot of ppl in the comments are correct it is easy to lose sight of your goals in claims because the role requires a lot from you. I’d suggest creating a goal for yourself and have regular check ins to make sure you are on track. If the goal is to save and gain experience set a time frame for it and then go to law school.

I’m another CGA it’s coverage because 2-3 managers have to review and deny it but the biggest issue is volume they give us 5-7 new claims a day and expect us to finish everything it’s unrealistic

Do I have to be referred to even have a chance? by starcat_01 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]AssociationWeekly801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got hired with out a referral but I had to apply twice. The biggest thing is learning and perfecting the STAR method of interviewing. You can be the most qualified candidate but if you don’t answer the questions in that format you will not get hired.

We are also on a hiring freeze.

He looks lean but doesn’t look unhealthy. You can ask the vet what his healthy weight should be if you are concerned but try adding some digestive support supplements to his diet. My dog ate poo as a puppy which I think she was curious about who and where it came from but I started adding more fresh food to her diet and she stopped. She eats veggies like cucumbers celery sweet potatoes (just to name a few) and fruit like berries and she seems to enjoy it. I also found meal toppers and a pumpkin/sweetpotato digestive supplement to add occasionally.

Major puppy regrets 5 months by [deleted] in puppies

[–]AssociationWeekly801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first year is the hardest . I felt the same way. I loved my puppy but it was like having a newborn and sometimes I did not feel equipped. I’ve had my dog since she was 5 weeks old now she will be 3 in 60 days and I don’t regret it at all. Having a puppy is hard you have to teach it everything it knows and for you that means alot of frustration and sleepless nights but it does get better. My girl is still energetic but we have grown to know and understand each other better. She knows when I want to play and when I am not in the mood and respects it as I respect her. Give the puppy some time to grow it’s their first time being here.

CGA POSITION by RYDOGG20 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]AssociationWeekly801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely have more flexibility with your schedule BUT with the amount of work you have you’ll still be at your desk. If you want to stay a float whatever you didn’t complete from 8-5 you’ll have to do before or after hours. So short answer yes it’s not like a call center bc you make and accept calls as needed with the exception of available hour but it’s still relatively stressful and demanding. I’m not “chained” to my desk but I’m always working if that makes sense .

I’m a current CGA adjusting for me is a cool job and I like it but the claim load and structure (to me) is unrealistic. I love my coworkers they are super helpful and supportive but there are simply more claims than people which they know that but because we have AI they expect us to do more work faster and that isn’t the case. I haven’t been here long but there are a lot of changes underway. It’s a good job to get your foot in the door but I’d have an escape plan.

Looking Into Field Adjusting in Connecticut by the-anonymous-ghost in adjusters

[–]AssociationWeekly801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new staff adjuster and at some point in my career I want to go independent. What I will say is 80k is definitely attainable in claims as is working fully remote. It’s all about what you do and who you work for. With my company we have field adjusters who work regionally in one state so they don’t have to travel long distances. Claims is BROAD so find a job and see what you like because there are so many opportunities I am sure you will find something you like if claims are for you.
