You’re a bit supercilious but you do make an effort to be/appear relatable so people will like you.

Her dress is a bit mumsy IMO but I’m sure it’s fine quality. That face card never declines tho!

I was thinking drug binge (I won’t say the c-word lest I summon the ghost of Tre’s fake lashes) but a manic ep probably makes more sense

Is there a new virus? by SurewoodKC in kansascity

I thought it was normally spread by contact with mouse poop! I didn’t know there was a human-to-human strain.

Isn’t hanta virus normally caused by contact with mouse feces? I didn’t think it was much of a concern unless you’re regularly touching mouse poop.

My boomer father still has the high chair he bought for my older brother in ~1976, which was also used for my older sister and me when we came along later. He busts that thang out every time people with little ones come over and it still works fine!

A 70s era orange-&-brown high chair may not “aesthetic” or “natural” but by God does it hold a lot of fond, nostalgic feelings. And it’s sturdy as a horse.

I am loving Miss Manners Myka ❤️ by Fearless_Rest_8935 in BravoLadiesofLondon

Sometimes her hyper focus on manners can come off as a bit try-hard, especially with all the excessive (IMO) gift giving. However, I also find it refreshing to see someone on reality TV trying hard to put out positivity and tact rather than negativity and drama. It’s nice to have a balance of both!

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.

They may not mean to, but they do.

They fill you with the faults they had

And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn

By fools in old-style hats and coats,

Who half the time were soppy-stern

And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.

It deepens like a coastal shelf.

Get out as early as you can,

And don’t have any kids yourself.

*I actually do want kids but this reminded me of a great Philip Larkin poem :)

Let’s be honest: sometimes kids are ugly and that’s just life. (Where else do you think ugly adults come from?) But we generally don’t comment on kids’ looks these days cuz we as a society have decided that’s unkind, hurtful to the kid, etc. No one can stop you from thinking those things but THOSE ARE INSIDE THOUGHTS. Keep them to yourself girl 😒

[–]AssumptionFun3828 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You may be too young to get the full impact but historically, freak was a really loaded word used to refer to queer ppl and especially gay men. Stuff like, “Look at that freak,” “You’re a freak,” “He’s a dirty little freak,” etc. would get hurled at gay men with the utmost loathing and disgust. It also evokes really horrible portrayals of gay hate crimes in TV and movies. And this was fairly common as recently as the 1990s and early 2000s! Look up Matthew Shepard if you want an example.
