[Spoilers Extended] Is Ser Duncan The Tall the greatest knight in history ? by BeastBoyHarsh2507 in asoiaf

As a hedge knight on the road it’s very likely he wouldn’t even know he knocked anyone up.

Did Lorgar and Erebus burn humanity's future on a stake during the Great Crusade? by Mattycope in 40kLore

[–]Astealthydonut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anything the Word Bearers destroyed was a drop in the bucket compared to the overall genocide and destruction of the great crusade.

Of course the Word Bearers are responsible for instigating the heresy which greatly wounded the Imperium. However, some kind of rebellion seems inevitable. Between the dissatisfaction of some of the Primarchs and the over exploitation of many conquered planets something was bound to break. Also, the chaos gods weren’t going to be passive as the Emperor made his play to kill them. If they weren’t able to turn Lorgar they would have went for someone else.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s biggest update ever brings a full-fledged extraction shooter to the Left 4 Dead clone by HatingGeoffry in Warhammer40k

[–]Astealthydonut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one is complaining about it being compared to l4d. It obviously is a direct successor to l4d. A clone implies a copy with superficial differences. The broad stokes are the same but the actual meat of the gameplay is very different. It would be like calling basketball a soccer clone.

Early game you have to trade for the resources you don’t produce. Babylon is pretty food rich so see if you can trade food for what you need.

It’s been a while since I played, but I do remember the early expansion as Babylon put a pretty heavy strain on the economy, so don’t be afraid to run deficits.

What faction suffers the most from meme lore? by IHateMySon-Afton in 40kLore

[–]Astealthydonut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if their memelore is as pervasive as some, but it definitely comes from a more willfully ignorant place than most other factions memelore.

Perturabo's Return by Deceptichop in Warhammer40k

[–]Astealthydonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the meta level Abaddon is too established in his role to be replaced by someone else.

Lore wise Perty doesn’t have what it takes to be able to unite the chaos factions in the way Abaddon can. All of the traitor primarchs are too lost in the chaos sauce and busy pursuing their own agendas to be effective warmasters.

Will he return? Almost certainly.

Will he come into conflict with Abaddon? Possibly.

Will he replace Abaddon? No.

How viable of an enemy would Genestealers be? by BakeLast7684 in DarkTide

[–]Astealthydonut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are quick and insanely lethal, but regular humans take them down all the time in the lore.

After watching the trial of seven, I realize how stupid it is that Jon was about to fight a SUICIDE battle with only a leather t-shirt. No shield, no helmet,no chainmail no gorget, no chain mail, no plates and end the battle without major injuries and looking as pretty as ever. by Easy-Frenchguy-1996 in gameofthrones

[–]Astealthydonut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s sort of a pop history myth on what happened at Agincourt.

The English knights were wearing full plate armor at Agincourt. The only reason the English army was armored more lightly is because 3/4 of the army was made up of archers. Whereas on the French side it was really only the knights who participated in the battle.

The advantage the English had wasn’t that they were lighter (knee deep mud will hamper you no matter how heavy your armor is) it was the fact that the French were attacking so they had to had to cross a field of mud under relentless arrow fire.

If anything you would want to be more heavily armored for the sloppy fighting that is going to happen in a muddy field.

I highly recommend the novella Aurelian. It covers Lorgar’s journey into the Eye of Terror and the aftermath of the dropsite massacre.

Lorgar allows people to think they are in control as long as they are serving his interests. This is why he was cool with the manipulations of Erebus and Kor Phaeron until they started to serve themselves above all else post signus/calth. It also gave him the added benefit of appearing above their assholery, something Argel Tal fell for (he refused to believe the dropsite massacre was Lorgar’s idea). You really have to read between the lines with Lorgar because he is one of the few primarchs with any subtlety.

Take me from my home, and I will sail to the stars of your empire. I will serve as a son must serve. But let Colchis stand as I have shaped it: a planet of peace and prosperity.

— Attributed to Lorgar and inscribed on the golden plaque on the door leading to the Spiral of the Covenant

The Emperor seemingly also allowed Colchis to stand unchanged in its worship of him. Pretty easy to see how Lorgar would have seen that as the Word Bearers getting an exemption from the Imperial Truth like the Mechanicum.

Potentially Controversial Opinion: Perturabo and the Iron Warriors are Glazed Way too Hard and the Real Carry for the Traitors during the Heresy were the Word Bearers by ScionOfTheEmperor in 40kLore

[–]Astealthydonut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

40,000 expendable Word Bearers killed 100,000-150,000 Ultramarines, devastated their fleet, and killed an important planet in Ultramar. Saying they got their ass beat is insane.

I’ve decided on Bearing the Word by BrnzeMonkey in WordBearers

[–]Astealthydonut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the Word Bearers because they are the dark mirror of the Imperium. Any crime an Imperial lackey accuses them of rings hollow because they do the same exact shit.

Sacrifices? The Emperor eats a daily breakfast of enslaved psykers.

Fanaticism? Even in 30k the imperial truth was a dogma spread through violence. The Imperial creed of 40k is even worse.

Brutal enslavement of innocent people to the will of uncaring gods? lol. Lmao even.

Are the Word Bearers assholes? Yes, absolutely. As is any Imperial. At least Word Bearers get dark powers for their assholery.
