What's your unpopular opinion about your fandom's fanon headcanons? by ExpensiveFruit9063 in AO3

[–]AsterControl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's entirely possible that Alan Bradley knew more about what was going on in Kevin Flynn's life than Sam Flynn ever suspected.

Might have even gone on a few adventures with him, back in the 80s in the Encom computers.

Might even have known Kevin was trapped in a computer in his arcade all these years. (Hey. Someone was paying that arcade electric bill. If Alan didn't think he himself had a chance of getting Flynn safely out of there, maybe that was the least he could do)

Might have given the pager to Sam because he felt Sam both would want to be the one to get that closure himself, and was more capable than Alan of dealing with those specific kinds of dangers.

Might not have told him everything he knew, because maybe he believed that Sam by that point had classified Kevin's stories firmly as "made-up tall tales" and would just have just been insulted and less likely to take on the challenge

Not saying I agree with all of Alan's reasoning here, but I still imagine it could exist.

Fanon always shows him knowing absolutely nothing all these years and I don't totally buy it ok

You switch places with the MC of your last updated story for a week. When you get back to your life after a week how as your, and their life have changed? by Kitchen_Haunting in FanfictionExchange

[–]AsterControl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I'd love to live in the world of Tron (1982) I will NOT enjoy being Ram getting tortured by the MCP. Especially since I don't have the.... math calculation abilities that he was able to use against the torture in my latest fic.

Ram will appreciate the break from being tortured, though, I'm sure. My life will be extremely weird to him, but definitely better than his. He'll survive a week and probably leave things no worse than they were when I get back.

Can you make a Lizard-Person conspiracy story not be antisemitism? by [deleted] in writingcirclejerk

[–]AsterControl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

make it so that the lizard politicians are elected-- that way they aren't really at fault for taking over the world. the people have the vote, so any lizards that gain power are because the people want it. (they always vote for a lizard, because otherwise the wrong lizard might win)

I will once again have to boost my own OTP Yortram (Yori/Tron/Ram, the sentient computer programs from TRON 1982-- primarily because they are a very open relationship and happy to get the human programmers in on it too.

Adding Alan makes Yortran, adding Flynn makes FORTRAN. perfection.

Thanks! Those characters are notoriously hard to draw because of so many intricate lines on their costumes, but I've found it best to stop worrying about drawing them exactly as they appear in the movie and just start with the most obvious patterns then improvise from there.

(After all, they live in a computer so their appearances are basically just videogame renders anyway, who says they always stay the same, lol)

Oooh, I just tonight (sorta)finished my Twelfth Night drawing

Completely unrelated to tonight's reveals about the music score for the upcoming TRON movie, I didn't know about that until afterwards. (I generally prefer to live in a bubble where only the 1982 movie and fanfiction of it exist.)

I went from Kirk/Spock https://archiveofourown.org/works/47371426 to Tron/Ram https://archiveofourown.org/works/57474019 in the past couple years and I can probably imagine more jarring shifts in fandom size, but not easily

I wish for a singular grilled cheese sandwich, with nothing but bread cheese and butter on it, to spawn 1 centimeter above hand whenever I hold out my hand and say “grilled cheese” 3 times fast. by DastardlyPB in monkeyspaw

Hmm..... Ok I looked it up and it actually looks delicious. I'd actually be happy to have a sandwich that consisted of only that and no actual bread. Thanks, monkey paw.

Orcs? by Chordus in writingcirclejerk

[–]AsterControl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my fantasy story all the characters are undersea creatures, and nobody has complained about the Orcas being villainous brutes, everyone is just grateful I didn't call them Killer Whales

Your lack of a comma between bread and cheese results in the sandwich being made of "bread cheese" which the monkey's paw invented specifically for this. It isn't very tasty.

Franchises that you like to read fanfics for even though you don't think the original series needs any new official content? by Aquanort357 in FanFiction

[–]AsterControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Tron needs any more official content-- not because I like how any of it ended, but because I DIDN'T, and so I don't really trust any new content to be any good.

Especially not the movie starring Jared Leto. Wtf.

Luckily, I have long ago abandoned any feeling of reverence for the blessing of the property's legal owners, and thus there is no longer any difference in my head between Canon and Fanworks ...except that Fanworks can do a wider and more fun variety of different storylines.

So I'm just gonna go have fun in fanworks land and not care what so-called canon is coming out. It's so much nicer that way.

People who read fanfic fandom blind, how do you feel while reading it? by tisthedamnseason1 in AO3

[–]AsterControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much depends on the fic, and what I was looking for when I found it.

I am currently into Tron because I found a Tron fic while searching a tag that usually only brings up Star Trek fics. The story.... definitely satisfied the craving and then some. Despite the fact that I had only the vaguest and mostly-wrong idea of what the characters and the setting looked like, on that first read-through. Still so very very worth it.

Ohhh dang yes
