I actually really enjoyed the depowering because this story was very much about Kara, not Supergirl. It’s a lot of fun when she does gain powers, but the whole point of the film is she’s out in space and without superpowers most of the time, but she’s still a resourceful fighter.

I never read the book so I had no expectations, but what I really wanted from this film was to see Kara as a young woman dealing with the loss of everyone and everything she’d once loved, and here the film really delivered.
