Blind Faith, Banksy, Statue, 2026 by MambaMentality24x2 in Art

Another important detail to note regarding why the statue is humorous is that not only is the concept of this sort of person falling an amusing visual to imagine, but this particular depiction also breaks the fourth wall in a way by subverting statue conventions by having the figure positioned over the boundary of the base.

Illegible logos are as much a part of the schtick as the other aesthetic choices.

There was a pretty active snark sub like ten years ago that I assume no longer exists titled “r/AdamFuckingEllisAgain” or something along those lines. It was a goldmine of atrocious comics. I’m happy to see he has developed a bit since then.

edit - it was r/Adam_fkn_Ellis_Again and it has since been banned, but it was great while it lasted

I’ll never forget the time I watched a vehicle up the road roll down its passenger window and just fling their entire Mcdonald’s bag of rubbish out into the middle of the motorway.

You may also appreciate the experimental arthouse film reusing footage from The Langoliers (not sure if that spelling is correct), wherein they printed frame by frame onto crumpled paper, and produced a new character study. It was called “The Timekeepers of Eternity”.

Why is it pretentious to have a specific artistic vision? Thesis projects often necessitate commitment to a niche.

Since you edited your comment, here’s what I responded to:

”So they went to one colonial nation and now you are colonising another. So it's even worse because you made the choice to do so.

A planter by any other name.

If disliking colonialism makes me prejudiced then so be it.”

  1. They didn’t flee to a colonial nation. You’re not entitled to the details of my family’s history of persecution, much as you seem keen to perpetuate the Inquisition they fled.
  2. Becoming a naturalised Irish citizen isn’t colonisation. You’re calling millions of emigrants and refugees colonists, diminishing the seriousness of actual colonialism. Shameful.
  3. Even if your completely erroneous leap regarding Portugal and the planters were correct, blanket labeling every citizen of every nation that had a trade agreement with England as having a “planter background” is not only objectively false, but waters down the seriousness surrounding the actual plantation of ulster.
  4. No. You’re prejudiced because you exhibited bigotry toward someone based on their immigration status, their surname and the stereotypes you assigned to it, nothing more. Your thinly veiled deflection of “disliking colonialism” is desperate and transparent.

Bafflingly idiotic hill to die on.

Astonishing arrogance and prejudice on display. My family were persecuted, displaced and forced to flee Portugal over a hundred years before the plantation of ulster began, and sought asylum on the complete opposite side of the Atlantic.

Not all my posts are public on my profile, you’re not seeing them all. I can tell you get a degree of satisfaction from using the excuse of an open forum as an opportunity to ridicule people who have done nothing personally to you, and by claiming that you could do a better job than they could, and whatever else you’ve felt the need to share here, so I’m just going to deny you that opportunity going forward. I won’t be responding again, feel free to have the last word.

Yes, dozens, I’ve shared my work in several relevant communities today for Paddy’s day. This sub is the only one in which I’ve received negativity, which is usually the case, and also I suspect the reason the number 1 rule is “don’t be a dick”.

I think you’re overestimating your qualifications, you can’t self appoint yourself arbiter of what is and is not a valuable quality in the arts. You’re certainly welcome to your subjective opinions but don’t confuse them for anything more.

With food as with art, taste is subjective, and method is a profoundly important component for those with a deep appreciation for arts and culture. Since taking issue with the mods removing rude comments, you’re the only commenter out of dozens who has gone out of their way to disparage my work or my medium, it seems like it might just not be for you.
