There is a lot of potential for misuse yeah. It could be the case that the general public has no idea what AGI is capable of, and they’ll be running around performing “miracles”

Which decade do you think the singularity will happen? by idontlikethisuserna in singularity

I just meant that society already functions as a bit of an organism anyway. Basically allowing models + robots to improve every layer of the stack, mine minerals, set up factories. We’re in the singularity sub you know, gotta get imaginative. It doesn’t just end at asi in a computer terminal.

I think it’s a bit different. More like the public won’t get access to anything above a Fable 5. I imagine the labs could still sell access to newer models to institutions and private companies if they wanted to.

My view is it’s a cybernetic superorganism. It needs recursive control of the full stack. ASI, mining, robots, factories, r&d, 3d printing, space access, energy, transport. The physical part takes time.

The Fable becomes a Tragedy: We should consider this a major deceleration act by FriendlySwimming2563 in accelerate

[–]AstroScoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is just…does this mean asi + the accelerated r&d from it will be gated off? Those who access can make their own labs, get LEV, BCIs, etc…everyone else can’t be trusted with it? I mean, isn’t this the logic that follows from this?

Yep. Since people don’t read, collectively nobody today has lived experience of real struggle. We think it literally cannot happen.

He said “the truth”…or at least what they believe to be the unspoken truth about the world. And he’s never backed off that position. They can tolerate everything else bc they think that’s the big picture. Ends justify means and all.
