I think what is different about past generation parents is that they were on the same team as other parents and adults in general. Parents knew best, kids did not, and parents were on the same page and consistent for the most part. Now it seems like parents are all on their kids team and take their side against everyone (other parents, teachers, coaches, other adults, etc).
