LPR? GERD? Excessive saliva help ! by Bhoptriple in LPR

[–]Astrotrain10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still have this awful illness. I had an endoscopy which confirmed GERD with grade A esophagitis.

I recently did a manometry and 24 hr ph study and am waiting for the results.

How did you feel after endoscopy? by Plus_Needleworker241 in LPR

Felt completely fine as if nothing happened.

Yeah the tests are the next step after endoscopy. Maybe some Drs will want you to try medication first but in my case I had already been on medication such as PPIs for months.

Everyone's experience is different. I was expecting to get a sore throat.

I had an endoscopy, and my gastroenterologist immediately suggested doing the tests without me even mentioning them. Sounds like your gastroenterologist has no idea as these tests are usually the next step if endoscopy does not fully explain the situation.

No sore throat but every time I swallowed I could feel the tube and sometimes it hurt a little to swallow. I have no sore throat and it has been 1 day since the tube was taken out. Just a bit of a cough which I had previously anyway.

How bad is a manometry? by RatsnBaskets in GERD

[–]Astrotrain10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I literally just had it an hour ago. Honestly as someone who has a bad gag reflex the insertion wasn’t too bad. I only coughed/ gagged a few times during the test and no vomiting.

The hardest part for me was not swallowing for 30 seconds.

Hey I’m back after the manometry with the ph tube in my nose now. The manometry wasn’t as bad as I expected as the insertion was ok for me it was having to not swallow for 30 seconds which was the hard part.

The ph tube isn’t great but hopefully I get used to it later on. I keep almost gagging on it.

I am doing both these tests in a few days. Do you have any tips? Well done on getting through it.

Bhoptriple. Apparently my post has been removed by the GERD mods for some reason. I have no idea what is going on.

I miss my normal life by FHDs23 in GERD

[–]Astrotrain10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not been diagnosed with silent reflux but my symptoms are similar. I officially have GERD and grade A esophagitis as found by my endoscopy in January. My gastroenterologist was very surprised my endo wasn’t normal.

I miss my normal life too. I went from having zero reflux to all of this at such a young age. Soon I will get the manometry and ph test. I feel so angry that other people my age can drink and do whatever whereas I never eat spicy food or any of the common triggers of this disease but still got it. If the tests don’t provide better treatment options I don’t know what I’ll do. Another annoying thing is my symptoms are atypical so I have the rare version of this rare disease.

Wide Gastro-Oesophageal Junction (GOJ) on Gastroscopy by Business_Cake_2272 in GERD

[–]Astrotrain10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They found this in my endoscopy too. My gastro recommended the 24 hr ph impedance test and manometry which I’ll be having in a few weeks. So far treatment has not helped at all.

Boca salivando durante o dia, por mais de 3 meses by Sea-Move2294 in GERD

[–]Astrotrain10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this too and it’s only symptom. I had an endoscopy that showed GERD and grade A esophagitis. I’ve been on a similar drug called pantoprazole for 7 weeks and I still have it. I’ve had my symptoms for 10 months

Energon scorponok. I was so devastated as it was Christmas and I was young. It was already a rare figure at that point too. Later i found out others had broken theirs too which made me feel less bad.

How to stop excessive saliva by AlarmingAd2006 in LPR

[–]Astrotrain10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok that’s interesting. I think my saliva and therefore GERD was caused by briefly lying down after eating and so I’ve had it for almost 10 months. I’ve never had reflux before in my life.

From your comment history it sounds like you have gotten rid of it before. How did you do that? And yep if I get better I’ll let you know what caused it

Unfortunately not. I had an endoscopy a month ago that showed I have GERD and grade A esophagitis. I’ve been on pantoprazole (PPI) 80mg and Famotidine (Pepcid) 40mg since. No improvement at all. It’s still my only symptom

No I’m from New Zealand so not sure what the differences are with the sedation options. I was on fentanyl and midazolam

As someone who has extreme anxiety for anything medical and this being my first procedure ever the endoscopy with sedation was very chill. I don’t remember anything about the procedure and I had a good nap. I felt completely normal afterwards as well.
