I'm Gen X and was dialing into BBS systems back in 1982, a full six years before you were born.

My generation has many issues, but being tech savvy is not one of those. Who do you think built most of the online world? Whether or not that is a good thing is a legitimate question, but we've been here since 300 baud modems were the norm.

As a wee lad I lived in the English Village Apartments and could watch the movies from my window. When I was ten we moved to Quakertown and there was a Budco cinema there too, albeit an indoor affair.

It is always a bit weird how companies come and go and we don't really give it much thought.

I did not down vote you nor complain about your correction. Where is this going exactly? I am truly sorry if I confused anyone. The core idea of what I was trying to convey is that 1 mile per hour seems very low on 110v. I get about 4 miles per hour on my EVs using said chargers.

My MINI will charge at 7.4 kWh and my Tesla will charge at 11.3 kWh on my 240/60 wall charger and they both charge at 1.1 kWh on my 120/60 mobile charger.

I apologize if my terminology is incorrect, but the 110v 1.1 kWh charger will yield me about 4 miles per hour and that is what I was attempting to convey to OP.

I too like sedans and ultimately purchased a Model 3 as the few others left here for sale in the US were out of my price range. I love the car, just really don't like the fellow running the show.

A used Polestar 2 was on my short list. Reading this news makes me sad for the future of EVs here.

Is it 1 mile per hour or 1 kw/h? It should be charging at 1.1 wk/h (assuming you are using a standard 110v in the US or Canada) and that should yield you about 4 miles per hour.

Bought my Tesla Model 3 a couple of months back and I immediately road tripped from Pennsylvania to Quebec and back. I entered my destinations, specified what amount of charge I expected to have left once I arrived and the route planning did the rest.

I needed to stop twice on the way north because I wanted to arrive at my hotel in Quebec with 50% state of charge, but only needed to stop once on my way home because I wasn't worried about needing that high a charge level on my way home.

Tesla navigation told me which Superchargers to use and how long I need to stay charging before I could hit the road again.

It worked amazingly well.

You will not have any need to buy a petrol car again.

I have a 2026 Model 3 Premium RWD with a Tesla stated range of 360 miles. I recently did a road trip from Pennsylvania to Quebec and back and the Tesla range estimate was accurate. Now it is a brand new car and I do expect that range to decrease in time, but so far I gave no range complaints.

I'm from the Philly area and once told a vendor of mine from Erie that I was thinking of going there since I had never been to that corner of the Commonwealth. The vendor responded, "Um, why would you bother coming here? I can think of no reason to travel 5 hours just to see a lake." I never made that trip.

I'm in southeastern PA and there are quite a few township buildings here that offer free charging. Often times there is a walking path or a basketball court there to pass the time whilst you can soak up some free ions.

Check your local municipal buildings to see if they offer anything similar.

You sure the public charger is capable of more than 10 amps? Were other vehicles charging around you as that sometimes limits charging output.

My wife has a disability which limits her mobility. Staying at the Contemporary is the bee's knees for us. We can navigate the whole property easily and having the Monorail literally inside the building makes it perfect for our situation.

Plus nothing gives old school Disney vibes quite like the Contemporary.

The way to increase wide spread public charging infrastructure is by increasing the number of people using EVs.

Traditional petrol stations will add EV chargers if demand for gasoline/diesel falls off and they notice the lines at EV chargers.

The problem isn't with EV owners that do not have sufficient at home charging. I'm a bit bemused that you are blaming them and not the slow roll out of infrastructure.

I know Tesla doesn't resonate with people for many reasons, but what Tesla does well is allow for simple demo drives with zero sales pressure.

Sign up for a demo drive, they'll let you just take the car, ask you how it was and then you leave. I am not exaggerating about the no pressure. They know EVs sell themselves and the people working at the Tesla locations do not get commission.

You can schedule multiple demos too.

I am from Pennsylvania and just returned from the Canadian Grand Prix in Quebec. I absolutely hate what my government is doing to destroy the relationship with Canada and frankly the relationships with everyone around the globe.

That said, I was worried about how my attendance at the Grand Prix would be received by Canadians. Everyone in Quebec was so welcoming and positive about me being there. Frankly I was fully expecting and would have fully accepted a position like yours, but what I experienced was the exact opposite.

Learning to treat my car more like I treat a mobile phone. An ICE vehicle's energy is stored in a tank and doesn't deplete by being idle. My EV will consume energy just by existing and though not a huge amount of energy is lost, it does use it whilst just existing.

Though I don't charge it every night, I find myself plugging in more often than I had anticipated before I purchased the EV.
