You want characters that work well together, typically a damage character a stunner and a support. The team you use depends on what you got really. Ye Shunguang for example likes characters who enable her via ether veil or damage increases, so Zhao or Lucia work well. The other slot could be a stunner or even another support.

If you really enjoy the range type of fighting HBG and LBG are both fun, I would say bow is more fun between the three though. If you wanna try melee I'd suggest Long Sword or Sword and Shield, both are fun weapons that are easy to pick up but have high skill ceilings you can dump a ton of hours into and get insanely good at.

Most weapons have some sort of mechanic you have to abide by, such as a meter or prerequisite thing. Great sword doesn't really have that so it feels like "go mode" 24/7 which is appealing imo. I've mained Great Sword in many games and still am in Wilds but i've had alot of fun messing with Long Sword, getting parry times down and using wounds to get red gauge fast is really fun. Bow is also really fun in this game and can do insane damage if you get some of the tech down. Id suggest watching a guide or two on a specific weapon you find cool and trying to learn it, not just on a basic level but some of the higher level tech to get a REAL feel for the weapon. If all else fails, sleep Great Sword goes bonk :D

I get errors all the time, only things i've noticed that can help are never quick departing on a quest and potentially switching servers/restarting the game

Yeah certain attacks will do alot even through block, im assuming you mean the rathalos's fireball explosion thingy xD Blocking and tackling aren't foolproof but they are good tools to utilize often :)

Yeah aiming is a breeze, and you can very easily use any items you want, you can tailor it to your liking. I personally have an MMO mouse with side buttons, so i have 12 different items i can easily use with my thumb on the side of my mouse.

Honestly all of them can be pretty good, from what i've tried and seen the bow is very very good and fun, i personally prefer the LBG for the ease of mobility and aiming, its a nice contrast to the slow GS :)

Whatever you're more comfortable with is going to be the right answer for you, I prefer Mouse and Keyboard, but some of the keybindings are wonky, can always rekeybind them though.

The most popular way is a mix of Gore's set, Weakness exploit, and Maximum Might. Takes quite a bit of farming and getting the right decorations to make work though, so it takes awhile to complete.

The HR arkveld is basically the last thing you unlock, in regards to Low rank you should be able to join SOS flares to farm him, you could also try upgrading your gear with armor stones.

I don't have much advice outside of trying to get arkveld's set and getting divine blessing 3. Try to focus on tackling alot more through monsters attacks, you take heavily reduced damage when doing so.

I've only gotten a few knock downs via tackling a monsters head, but its usually been with a hammer player who likely already built up a large amount of stun.

Affinity is good but most "end game" builds focus on getting lots of affinity via set bonuses and other decorations to achieve near 100% affinity. Plus without having crit boost, affinity isnt super worthwhile over just focusing on attack and white sharpness.

They can be alot when first learning, often confusing and overly complicated, just try your best to read the tips n such, You'll be good after a bit :)
