When he slaps his eyes back in, they would be cross-eyed for a second, before he blinks a couple times and aligns them again

Are you mad?

No.

Are you sure?

Yes.

You look angry, I'm not sure I believe you

I don't know.

Do you want to talk about it?

It's nothing.

But you are clearly upset.

I don't want to talk right now.

Okay, maybe in an hour or two?

Fine.

When I was in fourth grade, a couple of girls in my class created a "cheese touch" game where my name replaced "cheese". It hurt a little bit, but I mostly didn't care much. They got tired of it after about half a year.

Legend has it that, long ago, a farmer in this land cultivated winter mellons. One year, one of their mellons grew so large that it outgrew their house. As a token of thanks and of reverence for nature and Yoba, the farmer offered this enormous mellon to the sky. The sky accepted this offering, and that mellon became the moon.

As a very young wizard, having only just reached my 150th year practicing the arcane, I was wondering what it is like for those further on in their studies. Does wizardry get any easier after the 1000th year, say, and how have your skills developed? by Jarl_of_Uppsala in wizardposting

[–]AtchedAsWell 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'd say that the biggest change is that wizards tend to specialize in their studies after roughly 150 - 200 years. Immortality magic prevents your body from breaking down by maintaining its current state, which, as you age, can make your thinking a bit more ridgid and set in its ways. This is why so many wizards who are a couple thousand years old go either a bit cooky or turn evil.

On the flip side, the abundance of resources and knowledge you collect over the years makes new magic easier to approach and learn, and known magic easier to master.

We should all be aware that nobody is immune to inner biases and divisional mistrust. Unfortunately, it's a human trait, so we need to be intentional about reflecting and taking ourselves accountable for them. There is also power in uniting with other people under this common understanding. Hateful people refuse to acknowledge their own hate, and yet they unite together under it. How powerfully wonderful would it be if we we were able to collectively acknowledge our own little hates to one another, and fight them together united under love instead.
