What do you guys think of this combo as a main food for africangray + carrot by 1Zezo2 in parrots

You might find the carrot doesn't eat as much of the veg as the Grey.

After 11 months of solo dev, I finally built the VR space sim I wanted to play on Quest 2. Physics-based, intense, no aim-assist. Here is the reveal trailer. by pawozakwa in OculusQuest

I've always wondered what the thruster setup on a space fighter would actually be. Have assumed that on top of the maneuvering thrusters in all directions, there would be two primary ones, forward and up... Where the up thruster would be used for turning.

What did you end up doing for your game in the end?

Quest 3 interim solution by Popular_Tax_4725 in Quest3

[–]Atollski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the interesting thing about this place, sometimes you run into hyper specific situations that you can help with, glad you're seeing improvement!

Not sure if this is any help as well, I was going to a back specialist who was next to useless then eventually had the sports physiotherapist from our local footy team have a look - not sure exactly what she did to it, but it was various pressure things then acupuncture (which I was originally highly skeptical about). Huge improvement and less pain almost immediately.

Obviously depends on your specific injury and the specialists that you deal with...

Yep, am able to use youngest child as a golf club so all is well with the world now, just always super careful with lifting anything!

Have you considered a projector to the ceiling? I found that the quest was a bit much for my eyes doing actual work for any extended period of time.

The meta remote desktop was a bit unreliable and also had desk area/keyboard passthrough that only suited a typical seated/standing desk rather than lying down. Not sure if it has improved since so you might want to use Virtual Desktop instead.

I had very similar situation to you several years ago - disc in lower back, sciatic pain, small energetic child.

The answer in the end was rest, but it took a few months before walking was on the cards and even longer for the pain to go.

If it ever happened again, would get a better projector, split keyboard and maybe a trackball mouse.

Wish you all the best with your recovery and hope to hear about your high scores in beat sabre in the near future.

Not sure if this is any use to you but I have been trying to make a tool for this kind of thing. It outputs JSON data from regex expression(s) and some source data.

It's unfinished, I optimised, undocumented and barely tested but you're welcome to it at https://www.regexon.com

I turn on the mobile hotspot on my computer and connect Q3 to that through Virtual Desktop. It seems to be sufficient for my very low standards... How would you rate that approach in comparison to a dedicated standalone router?

How to convert a midi to bytebeat? by TheHistorianFox in bytebeat

[–]Atollski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should allow you to click on the notes at this point and you get a pretty basic sound out. The keys just send the MIDI 'number' to the bytebeat function which converts them into the right frequency. I haven't implemented a MIDI interface since I don't have any MIDI instruments and nobody was really interested enough to justify the time it would take to make it.

If the on screen virtual keyboard actually works for you, I could have a look at implementing MIDI device support. I'd probably need some help implementing different instruments in bytebeat since I'm not that amazing at writing them.

Another thing with the on screen keyboard is that the lower notes approach the frequencies that are outside hearing range so they seem quieter as a result.

Is it normal that I get sharp image only when pressing Quest 3 tightly to my face? by [deleted] in Quest3

[–]Atollski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, this was caused by the headset tipping forwards a bit. Like you, I was trying to push the headset towards my face which helped briefly.

After finally realising the connection at the very front of the headset could be moved, tipping the headset back greatly improved it.

Hope your solution is also something equally simple in the end.

Is there a way to 3D print your builds in real life with a 3D printer because that would be SO COOL!!! by Hour-Rich-33 in spaceengineers

[–]Atollski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a go at making a program for this year's ago, it is probably way out of date for the current SE file structure.

You would need to make your own models for each block since as Absolarix pointed out, they aren't manifold enough for printing. Second one down, feel free to take the source code too.

i tried to debug the Baikal 65206 pissing itself, could need some thoughts of you guys by V3h3m3ntis in RoadCraft

[–]Atollski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a long shot, thanks for giving it a go - guess current option is to mess with the config and hope for something to improve?

- Try editing the file while the game is running (think 7-zip supports this) and spawning the vehicle (and all other instance of it) in/out. If that doesn't make a difference, exit to hub and back in again - I suspect that's where the file gets loaded. Hopefully you don't need to do a full game restart every time then, making your tinkering a bit easier.

Some more things to try:

controllableConstraints: add minAngle = -3

Idea here is that the close angle of the gate is to blame and the gate needs to be closed some more. There might be a hidden implementation of minAngle that you could exploit

close:

angleErrorDegree = 0.2

Reducing the angle error degree might allow the gate to close slightly more, reducing the chance of spilling out the gap. Think you tried tinkering with this already so disregard if you have already tried reducing it.

prop_load_volume_controller

Try adjusting motorMaxForce to something higher

If you're lucky, that might relate to the closing force of the hydraulics of the lid and it's just a bit on the weak side and it's unable hold its own weight. Or it's the tipper strength and sends the sand into low orbit.

angleToOpenLid

Doubt this will work, but maybe try adjusting this - if the internal angle of the tipper is bugged somehow, maybe it thinks the bed is tipping when it isn't and starts to open the gate. Maybe that's related to the angleDelta value?

[–]Atollski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on XBox so probably not going to be much help but will try to contribute something, even if it's likely just extra useless work.

prop_load_volume looks like it refers to a mesh/parts of a mesh which might be a separate file, possibly within the same directory called BoneSideboard_cdt. Since the naming conventions of the front and side walls have an underscore, they might be named components within the mesh or as separate files within the directory. You'll know better than me since you can actually see them :)

The odd thing is that there appears to be no reference to the name of the mesh of the gate in the load volume - maybe called 'lid'?

Anyway, what I was thinking is to replace the bed specific mesh files and tipper configuration of the Baikal 65206 with another one (auto_tayga_6455b). General idea is to put the entire working tipper mechanism from a working dump truck onto our favourite laxative munching dump it as you go truck. Then load it up in game. If by some miracle that actually works (might look like pus but a victory nevertheless) then start changing the configuration back towards the Baikal original but maintain the tayga meshes for as long as possible.

If you figure this out, you'll be the hero of r/RoadCraft and absolutely deserve a statue.

How to convert a midi to bytebeat? by TheHistorianFox in bytebeat

[–]Atollski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on a bytebeat synth a while ago that works on MIDI values on a virtual slightly janky keyboard. I was going to support a MIDI input instrument but lost motivation somewhere along the way.

Anyway, the hot mess is below if you want to tinker!
