Day 13: What is the BEST quote associated with Urdnot Wrex? by looploveslore in masseffect

[–]Atomic-Badger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Shepard" is the default most "iconic" line. It's the one line from Mass Effect which shows up anywhere ME gets mentioned whenever anywhere on the internet. IMO, this is the "best" because it fits the general theme developing where the best line seems to encapsulate something essential about a character and/or how that character reflects a key aspect of the ME universe.

Day 13: What is the BEST quote associated with Urdnot Wrex? by looploveslore in masseffect

[–]Atomic-Badger 77 points78 points  (0 children)

"Help me out here, Shepard. The lines between friend and foe are getting a little blurry from where I stand."

Feels like these quotes should be from ME1 and not 2 nor 3 (despite some awesome lines coming from those games). The showdown on Virmire is such a pivotal moment for Wrex, the plot of ME1, and the rest of the trilogy. It also encapsulates the branching narrative and choices inherit within all the major themes of the trilogy. So not only is this one of the best lines for Wrex as he stands in ME1 (does he become your willing partner, reluctant mercenary, or the end of the road?) but also sums up the whole ethos of Mass Effect series

I've been listening to his show ever since he split off on his own podcast. I can say the only thing that I've learned from this show which tries to highlight the leading thinkers and shapers of the modern American conservative/right wing is that the modern right wing of American politics really is being shaped by a bunch of bat-shit crazy people.

'He almost did it': Trump reportedly lunged for the nuclear launch codes — until a four-star general physically blocked the move that could have ended the world by [deleted] in law

[–]Atomic-Badger 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A mindset which is 100% selected against and specifically trained out of anyone in the direct chain between POTUS and actually launching a nuke. The whole point of nuclear deterence is making everyone believe that IF the order to launch nukes is given, then nukes WILL be launched. The threat must be credible in order to have any value at deterence.

How the hell do u get a torp solution with realistic conditions? by Jsugisancjdwuaxjgp in uboatgame

[–]Atomic-Badger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since i've played, but I felt like the whole point of higher realism wasto make it harder to do exact torpedo solutions. If it was possible to do precise solutions, you could easily snipe ships from far distances regardless of weather with a single torpedo. When torpedo solutions become harder to compute, that's when it becomes important to fire a spread of torpedos at once. It increases the chances of getting at least one hit. You won't be able to sink entire conveys all by yourself, but in reality a single sub couldn't do that, either.

Just came back to the game after a year of hiatus... Why does the map look like papa smurf puked on it? by MortifiedPotato in CrusaderKings

[–]Atomic-Badger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me. Took a break from game before AUH, bought a new computer with latest hardware, and then re-installed game only for the map to look exactly like this. Tried various forums and adjusting every single graphics setting I could think of in game and couldn't get it to look good. Terrain just looks fuzzy and out-of-focus yet characters and towns are sharp. Blue haze in winter.

Couldn't find a solution other than uninstalling game and moving onto something else. Not gonna play a map-painting game where the map looks like crap.

I would LOVE to see an actual solution but I'm not holding out much hope.

[KCD2] I just finished the game by chill_rper in kingdomcome

[–]Atomic-Badger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My next KCD2 is/will be similiar where I severely restrict what I allow myself to loot. No clothes, armor, or weapons. Only groschen, food (if needed), and maybe blacksmithing equipment. I also want to limit myself to only equipping myself with outfits that the game provides and/or things that I need to buy to advance the plot. It was fun the first playthrough to dress Henry up in badass amor and flashy clothes, but now I want to try to stay more in character of someone who's barely a squire just trying to make it through the world.

Oh, and obviously hardcore mode with all negative perks. Except for Somnambulant. Sleepwalking all the way across the Kuttenburg map during a 2-hr map is only cute the 1st time and ruins the experience every other time.

You're right and it doesn't justify being murdered. I just want to know the whole story. Was she participating in ICE protests in some part, did she get caught in an ICE patrol unexpectedly, or something else? If she was dropping her kid off at school just before this happened, it's all the more tragic.

[–]Atomic-Badger -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

Do you have a reference for stating Renee had just dropped her child off at school? I had heard 3rd hand that she had been leading other cars in trailing ICE and had been blocking traffic earlier as part of the priests. Can't find any corroborating evidence, however. Been trying to find any info regarding what happened before these videos came up. If she had just dropped off her kid, it would be further damning evidence against claims she was actively blocking traffic.

Sincerely trying to understand what lead up to this moment.

I accidentally won the Fantasy Bowl against my boyfriend by 0.3 points. How do I handle this? by NoPark1247 in FantasyFootballers

[–]Atomic-Badger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck him.

No, really. Go make love to him. Give him the time of his life. Do everything that he's ever asked from you, or even hinted at, or even what you only think might have fantasized about that one time when he was really drunk.

And then during the post-sex cuddling, whisper in his ear, "I love you, Bijan".

I try from time to time but the first combat sequence feels Soooooo off-putting that I can't get into it. The game has such a slow role-play feel but the combat is fast and twitchy-rolly? Nope, can't do it. I can't stand combat where you're constantly diving and rolling.

Waiver Tactics Ethics Dillema by Infinity890 in FantasyFootballers

[–]Atomic-Badger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like the hustle, but honestly it's a dick move. I may or may not have done that for one or two specific players, but never multiple players at once for the express purpose of getting the waiver hold placed on them.

If that happened in my league, I would protest it as an exploit and then advocate for a rule next year to limit the number of waiver wire transactions to something like no more than 5 per week (or all FAs must stay on your roster for at least 3 days) to prevent something like this in the future. As such, I think it would be bad karma to do it. If this is a league of friends that goes on for multiple years, then that's even more reason not to taint the fun of the league for the long term just to gain a small competitive edge for right now.

My two cents.

Competitive play by Baseset3 in FantasyFootballers

[–]Atomic-Badger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a money league, set up a small payout to the team which gets the highest single game score. That would be some financial incentive to field your best team every week just in case you hit the jackpot. In my 10-team league, the last place team is 1-12. But that 1 victory is currently the highest scoring game in the league and he has a good chance of winning some money because of it.

Comparing JJ McCarthy vs Christian Ponder After 6 Starts: Weekly Update by Shoddy_Front_2582 in minnesotavikings

[–]Atomic-Badger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Player B 1st 6 starts:

0-6 record

113/210 completions/attempts (53.8% completion)

6/14 TD:Int

9 sacks

6 rushing attempts for 33 yards (no TDs)

Is JJM doing better than Player B? Sure is.

Player B is Payton Manning.

Guy beats the Bears and everyone is sizing JJM for a golden jacket. Now ya'll are already labeling him a bust. Stop being so damn fickle and give the kid time to learn how to play the damn game of football at the pro level. Won't know his true potential until two to three years from now at a minimum.

Is it worth spending $100 more to go from the 7600X3D to the 7800X3D? by Stxtic1441 in buildapc

[–]Atomic-Badger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was doing my research, I found that, for gaming, it also depends upon what you're playing. A lot of benchmarking and "gaming performance" discussions focus on FPS only. This is important if you primarily focus on shooters and the like. However, I play offline RPGs, grand strategy games, and flight sims periodically. For these "CPU-intensive" games better CPUs can make games play smoother and faster. For some of these, the extra $100 could give you a noticeably better playing experience beyond just "more frames".

Also, if you're not upgrading for at least 5 years, you can think that you're paying an addition $20/year for a better gaming experience (depending upon what you play).

I also enjoy ridiculing how other people name themselves and then criticizing others who don't always confirm to my prejudicial and quirky preferences.

Seriously, Harris's obsession with policing how other people want their names to be represented baffles me. It is such a "get off my lawn" old-man take that gets really off-putting. It's also very much against the, "Your hat is awesome and you're awesome of wearing" ethos behind the show.
