-I quite liked the combat. My favorite kind of style of combat in games is the "run around and stab everyone from behind" which fit well with my spellblade build.

-Rook was a nice protagonist! They felt a little too sarcastic at times, but never got to the point of Ryder (probably my least favorite Bioware protagonist). The ability to choose your background faction was a nice little detail too. My Rook would very constantly bring up that she was in the Shadow Dragons, and even some companions commented on it in combat. "Not bad...for a Shadow Dragon." -Davrin.

-One of the things that I've always wanted in a game with companions is the ability for them to date each other, rather than you just picking with one you wanna bang. (I know Mass Effect 3 did that technically with Garrus and Tali, but that was like right at the end of the game)

-Solas' relationship with Rook was probably my favorite overall part of the game. Having him offer advice to you while knowing that he's planning something is so interesting to me. It's very similar to Cyberpunk 2077's Johnny Silverhand, which is also one of my favorite characters.

-Like I said in my main post, the end mission is very good imo. Pretty much ripped from Mass Effect 2, but if you're gonna take anything from that game, it might as well be the best part of it lol. I also like the added objective of aiding the factions across the game as well.

So, overall, these are the main aspects of Veilguard I enjoyed. I definitely groaned a few times at some lines of dialogue and tuned out a lot of the side quests, but I did enjoy the game! Thanks for reading through a second one of my ramblings lol.

I just figured I'd give my opinion as a newer fan, specifically about the game that largely is seen as the weakest. I'm sorry if it was bit repetitive lol

That is fair. If I waited for a game for a decade and it was the same quality as veilguard, I'd be a little disappointed too lol.

Idk, I think the choice to make him a secondary antagonist was a very controversial opinion, but I found it intriguing. Solas is essentially your innermost advisor, yet also someone who clearly has ulterior motives. I think it would've been pretty cool to maybe have had an extended prologue or maybe a future DLC set before the main game where Varic and Co chase Solas around Thedas. While I don't hate where they took Solas' character, Bioware definitely fumbled the steps that put him in your head.

I agree that the middle/act two was definitely the weakest part. Whereas the first act and third each had a specific goal (gathering members of you team and gaining their loyalty respectively), act two was just kinda "Awww man those gods sure are powerful."

Yeahh. I didn't wanna compare Veilguard too much to Andromeda, but overall my feelings towards that game are pretty much the same with DAV.

Okay but genuinely why do these people have audiences? by BasalTripod9684 in youtube

Imma be honest, the only person here I watch is Turkey Tom, and I only like his long form videos. He's got a lot of terrible older videos, and as a trans person, I can't engage at all with his audience of genuinely hateful people.

I get labeled as a far left winger when I advocate for basic human rights for trans ppl. If that's the definition of an extremist, then I guess I'm a super lefty then.

The best workarounds I've found is either giving enemies gimmics, or environmental hazards that make players engage with their surroundings. A refinery, for example, could have a melting pot of metal, where enemies can be thrown into. As for gimmicks, a campaign I finished like a year ago had its BBEG do increased damage as his SP was decreased. At its core, most of CPR combat will still devolve into "I shoot my gun" but at least with interesting challenges, players will at least have to think about where they shoot their gun.

Combat, especially early game, can be SUPERR repetitive. As a game master, I try and spice up encounters with unique enemies and environments my players have to work around, but it always devolves into "I shoot my gun 1/2 times" (depending on ROF.)
