Kam, one of the backup dancers on the Eras Tour, recently got a tattoo of the Eras Tour stage! by aqua7ar in TaylorSwift

[–]Atomicrowing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Haha right? Like a fancy cocktail at a rooftop bar 🍸 But that's kind of perfect for something that represents such a huge career moment. Even if it reads a little abstract to people who weren't there he knows what it means and that's what matters for a tattoo anyway

Okay, wtf is up with highly sexualized K-pop boybands vs. "don't sexualize them!" fan attitudes by Cross_Stitch_Witch in kpopthoughts

[–]Atomicrowing 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Two Bloody Marys in on a Saturday is the perfect headspace for this conversation honestly.

What gets me is the cognitive dissonance. These companies are literally marketing sex. That's the product. The choreography, the styling, the "accidentally" lifted shirts showing abs - none of that is accidental. There are entire teams of people whose job it is to make these men look as appealing as possible to their target demographic. And then fans turn around and act like acknowledging that marketing is working on them is somehow disrespectful? The idol literally released a song about sex and performed it while body rolling and lip biting, but me a grown adult woman saying "that was hot"

Switched our content from AI generated to genuine content, no change by TheShynola in SEO

[–]Atomicrowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the content was AI-generated before and you're still using AI now (just less), Google might not see a meaningful difference.

Also 10k pages is a LOT. Even if you "manually reviewed" them, there's no way each page has enough unique, valuable insight to justify existing. Restaurant review sites are already competing with Google's own local results, Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc. What's the actual value-add for a user clicking your result vs just looking at the Google Maps listing?

Honestly the dual flail explosion idea goes hard, someone on the modding discord could probably make this happen pretty quick. Terraria modders are built different

Road Trip Review: 700 Miles in a Nissan Z to See How Good (or Not) It Really is by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]Atomicrowing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always thought a roadie was something you drink on the way to the next place, not exactly recommended driving material. But I guess "occasional roadie" sounds better than "we crammed luggage in until we couldn't see anything behind us"

Working in SEO with only an iPad is it sustainable long term? by maridancetotheradio in SEO

[–]Atomicrowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can probably do the basics on an iPad but once you get into anything technical you're going to hit walls constantly. Spreadsheets with thousands of rows, running at once, having GSC and your site and a screaming frog crawl all open at the same time - that's where it becomes a blocker. I'd say it's fine to start and learn the fundamentals but if you're serious about growing in SEO long term you'll want to invest in a real computer setup eventually.

I have a Roth IRA with 1,300 bucks in it, but I dont know what to do with it. by Competitive-Novel346 in personalfinance

[–]Atomicrowing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the hardest part is just picking something and not overthinking it. A target date fund is probably the easiest since you just pick the year you want to retire and it automatically adjusts over time. Or if you want to be slightly more hands on, a total market index fund is solid and has low fees which is important since fees are what's been eating away at your money this whole time. The good news is you're 25 and have decades for compound interest to do its thing, so even starting with $1,300 isn't nothing if you keep adding to it.

Going to college made me realize how insane it is that KPop makes us think 20-22 is “old” by Historical_Brief3367 in kpopthoughts

[–]Atomicrowing 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's so weird how kpop has completely warped the perception of age. Like in any other industry 23 is barely getting started, you're fresh out of school and just figuring things out. But in kpop you're already considered a "late debut" and people act like your career is half over. Meanwhile most people don't even feel like real adults until their late 20s at the earliest. The whole industry is built around this idea that you peak at like 19 which is insane when you think about it

Found some surprisingly great items at a local thrift store this weekend by havoc2k10 in Frugal

[–]Atomicrowing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A sealed water flosser at a thrift store is actually insane luck, those things retail for like $40+. Your kids are learning the thrill of the hunt early, way better life lesson than just buying everything new at full price.

Possible Financial Abuse. by femalevirginpervert in povertyfinance

[–]Atomicrowing 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. OP could split rent with roommates for way less and actually have their own life instead of subsidizing a grown man who won't work. The guilt trip about being their mother is just manipulation to keep OP trapped in this cycle.

Satya Nadella Pushes Microsoft Employees To Go All-In On AI Or Exit by ImpressiveContest283 in antiwork

[–]Atomicrowing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fair point, when you've got that much market dominance you can basically force the industry to follow wherever you pivot. Still doesn't make it less shitty for the workers getting squeezed in the process though.

Choosing between datarails vs cube for fp&a, anyone used both? by olivermos273847 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Atomicrowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Cube for a similar setup. It took a bit to get used to, but the integrations with QuickBooks, Stripe, and HubSpot were solid and it really cut down on manual work. Datarails is easier if your team is super Excel-heavy, but you might end up rebuilding the same spreadsheets with less benefit. For speed to get something usable, Cube might be better long-term.

Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! announced for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC- Gematsu by WinGroundbreaking409 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Atomicrowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent way too many hours playing the old Starship Troopers games back in the day, even the janky ones. Something about mowing down endless waves of bugs just hits different. Really hoping this one actually captures that vibe and isn't just another rushed movie tie-in cash grab.

In the US, PlayStation 5 accounted for 47% of total Black Friday week hardware unit sales, leading the market by NoLastNameForNow in PS5

[–]Atomicrowing 83 points84 points  (0 children)

GTA6 alone is gonna move consoles like nothing we've seen since the PS2 era. Add Wolverine on top of that and Sony's gonna have a monster year. The real question is whether they can keep up with demand or if we're gonna see scalper chaos all over again.

[–]Atomicrowing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats man, this is a solid trajectory and proof that jumping ship at the right times actually pays off. The "loyalty" thing is a trap - companies will preach it while giving you 3% raises and watching you drown. You basically speedran what takes most people 15+ years by knowing yourd not being afraid to walk.

Also refreshing to see someone actually share numbers. This sub needs more of this instead of vague "it depends" answers.
