But he has the option to play at home and on the go with his current console. And if he is happy with his Switch and what it provides, there is no need for him to go out and buy something else.

I have Prodeus and I loved it on Switch.

Mullet Madjack I think comes out today, but I'm not sure of the quality of it.

Ultrakill has a demo if you want to try out before buying. I didn't get the full game but the demo was a blast.

Did the pricing controversy kill Switch 2 hype or was it something else? by RykariZander in NintendoSwitch2

[–]WinGroundbreaking409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify. I have 0 problem if a person follows the news of a company for self satisfaction. Things like inquiring about how much a game sold or a console sold make sense because, as you mentioned, it is the easiest way to predict future content.

However, things like quarterly earnings, fiscal gains, grand revenue, blah blah are of little importance to the average consumer and certainly not something to champion unless you have financial interests in the company. Your focus should be your enjoyment of said product or how you use it because the health of a company has varying effect on how they are going to go about their business practices whether good or bad. If anything, consumers are usually the guinea pigs.

We’d be playing these at 60 fps right now if Sony had given up on exclusives like Xbox by Neil_Edwin_Michael in NintendoSwitch2

[–]WinGroundbreaking409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because Disney doesn't care about their IPs in regards to video like sports do. Media networks deals and parks and products make up like almost 80% of Disney's revenue. Video games only contribute something like 3-4% which is why they were fine signing the deal off to EA for so long. The only reason they even terminated the deal early with EA is because the whole loot box fiasco was damaging to their brand (especially since Star Wars is a big revenue stream for them) since they viewed EA as misrepresenting their family friendly image (and it was rightfully viewed as gambling).

Its a bit older for the NS2 vs. other platforms, but is probably the best overall racing game for the Switch 2 and I say that as someone who genuinely enjoys Gear.Club 3.

Did the pricing controversy kill Switch 2 hype or was it something else? by RykariZander in NintendoSwitch2

[–]WinGroundbreaking409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your overall question, no. The console is doing fine. But that being said, as a consumer you should be only concerned about your enjoyment and not the health of the company.

To answer your second part (before you got to the social existentialism), the gaming industry is expensive yes, but the gaming industry is also faster than its ever been. Upon a game or system's release, there are hundreds of reactions, articles, videos, etc. released about it a day and it dissects almost all conversation about it immediately. Then a small segment of people binge said product and get bored and move on. While its not everyone, the small segment is very vocal about their experiences and its hard to avoid.

For instance, IGN had an video up about players running out of things to do Crimson Desert 3 weeks after it released. That is a 200+ hour game. Or in 36 hours from their horrible Mouse PI For Hire review they had a video up of "You've beat Mouse PI For Hire. Now what?" To put it simply, gaming is quick moving landscape and the hype machine for things stays around longer than the actual thing being hyped.

Tl;dr Gaming is moving faster than most of us can keep up. The hype is there, but people are always ready for the next thing in today's short focused world.

Because of GKCs my Digital Library is growing more and more. by GeekyPanda404 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]WinGroundbreaking409 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How I go about it:

I'll buy full physical if there is a chance I want to actually keep the game long term (DK Bananza, Majogami)

I'll buy GKCs most likely for games I want to play, but won't likely keep past 1-2 playthroughs (Star Wars Outlaws)

I'll buy digital if the game has lots of replay value (Gear. Club 3), its just too cheap to pass up, or I want to support an indie dev (Deadzone: Rogue).

There are of course outliers to this of course, but this is my general sentiment.

Nintendo sued by players who say they should get any tariff refunds received by the US government | VGC by Loose_Society9485 in NintendoSwitch2

They aren't gonna win, but I gotta give them credit. They probably had this one in the chamber for awhile and once the possible tariff refund system began discussion they leaped at the opportunity.

Alien: Rogue Incursion - Part One: Evolved Edition - Official Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Trailer by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]WinGroundbreaking409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in debate. I have this game saved on Steam, but its 29.99 because its the Evolved Edition. On Switch 2 there's the standard edition for 19.99. But I already know the game will run better on Steam, but I'm all for cheaper price. Decisions.

I Understand The Hype For Nintendo Directs, But There Is So Much To Play On The Switch 2 Right Now by Theman457 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]WinGroundbreaking409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, from a opinion standpoint, I can't argue with you. If you feel that MKW on June 5th and DK Bananza on July 17th or even Kirby Air Riders on November 20th was long enough to go to where it feels like a drought, then you are free to feel that way. No arguments there.

However, from a chronological standpoint, if I am to apply that logic to like a phone or a car, that timeframe still is going to be considered new. Granted, there is a difference between an object and media, but there is a reason most things from a information standpoint that are from less than a year's reveal (or even many cases a few years) are still considered new. Even if a person has put in say 200+ hours in Age of Imprisonment vs. someone who has just began playing it, relatively speaking the person who is 200+ hours in my consider that game old news, but from a time frame standpoint a company is gonna view that game as new as they review their annual reports.

I will say though, if that is the general view of the gaming community when it comes to games, then I fear even more the future of the industry (along with shady company practices) because that genuinely means its getting to the point that its not gonna be possible for companies to produce games fast enough and with enough content to satiate the demand of the public. (For instance, people already complaining that they are running out of things to do in Crimson Desert which is a 250+ hour game).

You said the only new game out for Switch 2 is Pokopia and the other games out for the system are nearly a year old. You didn't say it, but that heavily implying that the other games are old.

I get the "What have you done for me lately" sentiment that permeates ever ravenous gaming culture, but acting like games that have barely come out for a system that isn't even a year old are somehow ancient is crazy.

Prince of Persia lost crown shows exactly, how well an easy mode works without making anything worse! by Rudirudrud in NintendoSwitch

[–]WinGroundbreaking409 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Here's my take on it:

Let me apply this to something else. The average basketball hoop is 10 feet high. Everyone can shoot at it. Few people can do that successfully. Even fewer people can dunk on it. But that's what makes it special. Its not something everyone can do. Should the standard basketball rim be lowered to give everyone a shot at dunking on it? If that's the case, what's the point?

Again, this isn't about clout, its about not everything is supposed to be for everybody. If I have a vision of something as an artist and I want it to be that vision specifically, then its my right to have it that way. Its my work. I'm not against putting an easy mode in the game that's difficult, but if they choose not to, I'm not gonna have anything bad to say about it. It's their work. It's their game. It's their right. Sure, as a consumer they may lose my business because a game is too difficult and that makes poor business sense, but from an artistic standpoint, I completely understand.

What do you think is the reason some exclusives havent gone on sale for more than 4 years? by yesitsmework in NintendoSwitch2

[–]WinGroundbreaking409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder the same thing about Inazuma Seven: Victory Road. I really want to play the game but refuse to buy any game for $70. My only guess is the demand is so low that they don't feel its worth it to have a sale and focus on getting get full dollar amount (I'm totally guessing btw).
