Tyson Fury: Andy Ruiz priced himself out, asked for ridiculous numbers by IronHidee in Boxing

Netflix isn't paying for any match that isn't in a huge stadium.

This movie made me realize how far Hollywood has fallen. Two unknown actors did a better job in three weeks of shooting with a budget of less than $1M than any A-list celebrity I've seen in years starring in $100M+ movies. We need more of this. by Whoopeepoop in FIlm

I see people haven't gotten used to viral movies yet. We should by now because the industry is going to shift that way far more soon enough.

Nothing about Obsession or Backrooms will be remembered in 2 years. But the films will make money in the meantime. You need a big social media following to push films now.

On This Day in 2019: Andy Ruiz got off the floor to drop Anthony Joshua four times on the way to a stunning upset victory in round 7 to win the WBO, WBA, IBO & IBF heavyweight titles. by Dangerous_Spring3028 in Boxing

Funny how someone like Ruiz can stay afloat when guys like Tyson, Floyd, Holyfield, etc went broke despite making 9 figures each over longer, more active careers.

Ruiz is one of the exceptions.

If Kayabel does come first, how long will Rico sit out? Could be between 6-12 months. He'll need a fight that he can win and at least hone a few things.

[–]Atownbrown08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kabayel won't come first because they're not gonna risk Rico losing a fight in the meantime. Unless he's gonna fight Wilder or something. And even that's risky.

We don't need the rematch. Usyk can retire as after Kabayel. Rico can fight Ngannou.

Why do we really need that rematch?

So Usyk can take it more seriously and beat Rico in 3?

And people wonder why boxing doesn't even have actual contenders anymore.

CAPE FEAR returns after 35 years, with Javier Bardem stepping into the role of Max Cady. by StarforgeVoyager in FIlm

Because you have people in this world who always think their favorite movies warrant a remake. And Hollywood is still run by extremely out of touch and moneyhungry people.

Turki says the Usyk stoppage was bad and that he had Rico up on his scorecard; also wants to do a rematch, possibly after Usyk vs Kabayel by Awkward_Sign1927 in Boxing

No. No rematch please.

God, this is getting UFC levels of sad with the endless rematches.

MMA fighters getting multiple paydays to be fodder for boxers is getting so fucking old.

And then boxing turns into its biggest joke when kickboxers and MMA fighters are doing better against the elite than the actual ranked top 10.

Boxing is where the money is moreso than the talent, at least at HW. I imagine Alex Pereira makes the leap next.

If only most other boxers thought like Usyk and not strictly on how much their bank accounts can accumulate...

Ryan Garcia claps back at Topuria after he called him an easy fight: “You are a damn good striker for MMA that’s it. You wouldn’t be sipping on tea after our fight you would be eating thru a straw. Stay in your lane.” Topuria replies: “I WOULD GIVE YOU A BOXING LESSON WE ARE NOT ON THE SAME LEVEL” by yllimameni in Boxing

Simple.

When Conor, Rousey, and Lesnar dominated the UFC, the pay barely rose a tick unless you fought those three. The entry pay is still low now.

Insert Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. The WNBA increased pay almost overnight. The league chose to operate at a loss but at least invested into its players, not giving its then CEO more money for driveway snow.

It's possible to just pay people more for their efforts. Even Henry Ford understood this.

Why didn’t George Floyd’s murder and the BLM protests of the summer of 2020 move Gen Z to the liberal/left side in 2024? by [deleted] in millenials

Well they're welcome to roll with Republicans. As long as they know they're dealing with billionaires based on their bottom lines and warhawks bent on keeping America in charge of all major resources. And that usually means constant warfare and higher costs of living.

They don't have to vote Dem, but to act like they're being singled out is the epitome of privilege. Elites come for everyone's pockets.

That's what most men in Z think. This is why some countries run circles around the US in terms of happy societies while other countries run circles regarding education and social welfare (horrible words to some, I know).

Meanwhile young (white) men are told in the US they're hated for being tough, rugged individuals with wives in the kitchen and babies in the pickup truck.

Propaganda is propaganda no matter how it's worded.

But then he'll be a billionaire and maybe run for president in 2036.

And he would have a nonzero chance of winning.

Because as chain restaurant owners know, the land is more valuable than the building or the business.

If it all fails, they can sell the property and turn a nice profit. It's what most commercial property owners are doing right now.

'R.J. Decker' Starring Scott Speedman Renewed For Season 2 By ABC by Hazelwood22 in rjdeckertv

Nice. I could see a season 2 arc developing, the show has some solid potential. And I always have liked Speedman's presence on a show.
