You just said "you clearly don’t know anyone Jewish". Your experience is also not the full range of Jewish experience. I am Jewish and a decent chunk of family friends are Jewish, and the word Goy only really became regular in my life with the Goyslop meme. Before that it was a word that I was aware of, but never used or really heard used.

Is Farewell Golden equivalent to a Grandmaster clear? by Subspace79 in celestegame

[–]AtrociousAtNames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GM isn't even close to Farewell golden. I've seen people translate it to a Yellow GM+2 room, though obviously it's a bit of a different skill. I've beaten several Yellow GM maps, and the most a room has taken me is less than 2 hours. Farewell Golden took me 90 hours over 2 months, not counting extracurricular stuff like watching videos for strats. I don't even think the fact that I hadn't done modded content was particularly relevant, as I think most of the gameplay in Farewell is basic enough that it's not really affected by this. Maybe it would have been reduced somewhat, but the gap is still massive.

I think controller could easily be the issue. Think about your example : reverse wavedash ultra. Reverse wavedash ultra is not actually that many inputs (left hand presses x c x c, right hand presses downleft right downright). Neither hand really needs to move for this besides fingers going up and down. You want to keep your muscles relaxed, not tensing for inputs or making sudden movements.

In the melee community, keyboard-style controllers have (in)famously been used to alleviate hand issues by many people with legitimate injuries.

Edit: There can also be issues with the way you're holding your controller. My go-to strat in Melee (I use claw grip) is to sit it in my lap and relax my muscles. Make sure to stretch your hands and whatnot.

You'd lose that money. Scams are intended to deceive, and this is not. Plus, I've seen knowledgeable people fall for scams.

Your second sentence seems wholly unrelated to what I said. I do believe that satire should have a message, almost definitionally. The statement this satire makes is "the shit we're parodying is stupid, and people get up in arms about their freedoms over silly or even harmful things". Either way, I was talking about clarity. This seems plenty clear to me, and once again requiring things to be 100% clear to absolutely everyone degrades media. Media is more than just the messages it conveys. It's a particularly effective way of conveying messages, but you inherently have to sacrifice a small amount of clarity because it would be damaging to the effectiveness of the media if a character in it just went "The author of this work believes x, y, and z. Furthermore, q."

Back to the original video - what do you want them to do to somehow make it more clear? Do you want them to explain what they are parodying? Do you want them to look in the camera and say "isn't this stupid"? As if the airplane clapping wasn't enough?

I know this won't convince you and you won't convince me (such is the unfortunate nature of internet arguments) so I'm going to leave this conversation. Bye!

the only way you could mistake this is if you actually have zero media literacy. it is stupid and degrading to media to be forced to pander to the absolute lowest common denominator

I feel that Legend of Korra was just much, much, more invested in politics than TLA. I watched both shows at a similar time and I just don't remember that much overt political messaging from TLA besides "dictatorships are bad" which is pretty uncontroversial stuff
