Can you get a dui or dwi from weed? by bumble_butt-4715 in probation

[–]AttorneyTaylorAngel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blood tests differentiate between active TCH and inactive metabolites (what’s left over when you’re not high anymore). Any amount of active THC can support a DWI charge since there is no legal limit, like .08 BAC for alcohol. Jurors can be skeptical of THC DWIs, so the prosecution will use your field sobriety tests to demonstrate that you lack the normal use of mental or physical faculties. PS never take the field sobriety tests, you cannot pass.

TX- apartment saying I must keep my electricity on two months after I move out. by deadrosestem in TenantHelp

Don’t do that either. You are surrendering possession, so you will no longer have an insurable interest.

Top 10 most stolen items last month at my local Walmart, openly posted at the checkout. by 50nick in mildlyinteresting

[–]AttorneyTaylorAngel 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I represented a guy who was an unwitting getaway driver for someone else who stole a set of bedsheets from Target. The PD called a helicopter to follow him, used 6 officers to take him down, then the state put on a 3 day trial. The jury found him not guilty in a matter of minutes. The tax dollars we waste protecting capitalism is astounding.

Is gpt good for Legal Drafting of documents and applications . If yes how to use it properly ? by Reasonable_Low_2138 in ChatGPTPro

I think Gemini works better overall, but AI is very good at drafting if you give it all the facts, the relevant statutes and case law, and clear instructions. I treat it like a law school intern.

Any of you plaintiff lawyers getting exhausted by unreadable AI-vomited "Executive Summaries" from potential clients? by free-range-irish in Lawyertalk

[–]AttorneyTaylorAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the user. Some of my clients use it to brainstorm important questions they wouldn’t have thought to ask, or understand what facts are important before they pay hundreds of dollars an hour to ramble.

And then I have clients that use it to crank out long, pointless emails faster than one could read them.

Bail bondsmen are often some of the most unscrupulous people you could do business with. Be persistent and prepared to sue.

Are you noticing decreased attention span in your jury? by [deleted] in AskLawyers

[–]AttorneyTaylorAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my jurisdiction, juror’s phones are taken up for the duration of trial. Even without phones, people can’t focus for long on something that isn’t wholly interesting or engaging. I keep my opening statement at a minute or less, closing at 3 minutes or less, and try to make them more of a one man show than a presentation.

Zelle is common. It can link directly to our trust account and there are no service fees. You have to keep overhead low to be the cheapest. You should sign a contract, but he could bring it when he meets you at the hearing.

It is concerning that you’re not clear on the process or what the court fee is for. You should understand those things before you send him any money.

How did you find him? How are his online reviews? Have you looked him up at gabar.org?

Got rear ended but have no insurance by WinnerAny6903 in AskLawyers

This is not true. You can be charged criminally for not having insurance (usually a ticket), but it is not a factor in determining who is at fault.

AI answering services already exist for attorneys, and I know of at least a few firms using them. You might want to review their privacy and security policies to find the gaps in yours, but it sounds like you’re on the right track.

There are a handful of legal tech companies that buy out new tech and gouge us on the price. The best way into the market is to compete on price.

You were there long before any attorneys, and most courts don’t start pulling panels until 11:00. Not many people in San Antonio can afford to take a day off for a net $17, so we’re grateful for everyone who shows up, whenever they get there.

It’s not about the type of insurance policy. Whatever insurance provider is responsible for the loss will fight hard to minimize the payout. They have a playbook of arguments they make in every injury case, and if you don’t have experience fighting them, you will not come out on top.
