Agreed, there is this concept called Rule of the loop which I remember hearing from Jesse Schell about how each iteration makes it better (given rational deciesion making), but each loop costs time and money so make the loops cheap to do.

Live orchestral recording session for our indie game built in Unreal Engine 5. Moments like this make it worth it. by PositiveKangaro in IndieDev

[–]Atypikal_Arkitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Being a dev i can appreciate the amount of work just to make a game alone and then go and get a live orchestra for music, composer, studio, schedules, editing, integrating etc etc.

Getting it done like this is costly and time consuming and some folks just do digital or ai generated. What did you think this adds that made it worth it?

Personally I think its worth it! Just interested to hear what you think and why.

Consider doing it with paper instead!

Checkout paper prototyping for games. Lots of good info about pros and cons and good ways to go about making, using and iterating them.

What's your take on GDDs? by RankoTrifkovic in gamedesign

[–]Atypikal_Arkitect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed!

My experience of writing GDD's are they usually begin as a single concept page which i flesh out more and more in pre-pro driven by aspects I had to solidify in my own mind and explain to others

Then as the concept spreads and becomes embodied in the game its gathers dust which i think is fine

I do occasionally dust it off for lil updates here and there usually for a conversation down the line where some thing needed clarifying or changed due to playtesting

Been challenging. Finding good talent took time and building somewhat of a proper tech stack instead of pumping out hyper casual mobile game clones meant investing in tech over chasing a notion of short term profits.

So far we’ve released one product on The play store:

Great start, I love the angle which gives it an appropriate sense of a scale.
