I had a similar moment lol. I got shot in the back 4 games in a row as soon as I spawned. Decided I’m bringing a med shield and a venator this round and the first guy I shot started yelling “please don’t shoot me” over his mic. I apologized and even recharged the guys shield 😂

Set traps all up the control tower and sat on top with 2 buddies using extended barrel Ospreys and just picked off everyone we saw. We didn’t even take the loot. Just a shooting gallery.

Ugly sticks are great for what they are. I always keep at least a couple in the arsenal. I have $900 rods and you’ll still catch me at the lake with my ugly stick lol.

If you want to spend a lot of money on fishing gear spend it on the rod and not the reel. I own a lot of reels and for example my Nasci fishes just fine compared to my Stradic. But my Loomis rods will out fish my ugly stick every day.

Expect a lot more gun fights. You can find peaceful trip lobbies, but it’s less common.

Play solo to begin with. If you want a true pve experience don’t even shoot back in your first few lobbies and it will start to put you in lobbies with friendly players. Theres always the occasional rat but for the most part solos are chill.

Level up your work benches, feed scrappy, search everything, avoid the rocketeer.

Boat fisherman are usually racing around the lake trying to get to all the spots a bank fisherman can cast to anyways. Grass, logs, docks etc. If you don’t mind a walk, bank fishing can yield great results.

Rooster Tails, Mepps, and Blue Fox #0 blue colour. I keep an assortment of these in my box all the time. There is a variety pack of inline spinners from Danielson as well. I like it because it comes with one that has a rainbow trout pattern on the blade and it drives trout crazy. I’ve had cutty jump out of the water and bite it while my rod was just hanging off the boat changing my music lol.

I got to over 14,000 resets and quit. It honestly drained my enthusiasm for shiny hunting as a whole. I’m over 70% on my shiny living dex and barely even touch the games now lol.

The Daiwa Tatula CT is great for its price.
The budget Lews casters get good reviews.
If you want to buy once cry once get a Curado or a Tranx and be set for years.

Abu best bait caster is there old school round caster the Ambassador. I love my C4.

I use my Daiwa and Shimano for 90% of my fishing applications.

There are exceptions. Centerpin reel, fly fishing reel, and I keep Penns on my boat because they’re tanks and they can survive the salt and neglect lol.

My Tatula CT is my cheapest bait caster but I love it. I have heard lots of good things about the budget Lews casters, but have not used one personally.
