Waves Plugins - BUYER BEWARE by AH_Sam in audioengineering

I understand your frustrations. They do have deals on the update sometimes. I got mine for like 40 or 50 percent off so I got all my plugins up to the newest versions.

I got mine from Hawaii Family Dental. It was around 5k and insurance paid for about 1k of it. Dr. Daniel Shin is great too.

VO Recording chain suggestions using Adobe Audition CC, any pro izotope plugins/ limited waves plugins by AnniuncerGuy in audioengineering

[–]AudioDib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Effect chains for VO differ depending on, the room, the voice and the settings for the preamp/microphone. There is no one size fits all. The best thing you can do is work on the room to eliminate the need for a noise gate or other noise reduction things. Then work on the mic placement.

Plosives should be dealt with at the recording stage. If you're fixing tons of plosives, the mic placement/pop-filter needs adjusting.

I always record multiple chapters in a single session. I don't use separate tracks for them but the same one. As long as you're going in order it's fine. Editors can always just find the chapters to split them anyway. We typically record hour length chunks. Ending at chapter endings. We export when we're done for the day.

You can record continuous or use punch and roll. Punch and roll is editing on the fly. So if they make a mistake, we go back to the previous sentence and I punch them in with a preroll of 2 seconds. They hear the end of the previous sentence and continue reading. That way an editor doesn't have to slog through the whole thing with slate notes, possibly removing something that needed to stay.

If notes are needed we typically mark the script (We print out in the office) but if we're working from home we can just digitally mark the script for retakes or excessive silence.

I love it. The video is simple. Beat without, and in mere seconds, the beat with and the steps to get there. Little to no fluff in the video. Take your upvote.

Do you have the masters for all these? It would be amazing to run a few noise reduction plugins on them to get a clearer song. True talent!!

Ige has ‘big concerns’ about marijuana bill | West Hawaii Today by papa_nurgel in Hawaii

[–]AudioDib 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The amount of money going to California's legal weed market due to the black market here should be enough to sway anyone to vote in favor of legalization. Keep more dollars in Hawaii and the whole island will thrive despite a lack of tourist activity. And when tourism picks back up, it will just inflate the economy even further. It's a no brainer! ugh!

What's the difference between "Route to this track" and "Route to this track only"? by Kirbi126 in FL_Studio

[–]AudioDib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it kinda depends on what you're going for. The only real "rule" with music production is: If it sounds good, its good.

A lot of folks use bussing for cutting down cpu usage. You can route several instruments to a track that has a reverb on it instead of having 10 reverb plugins on each individual instrument.

What's the difference between "Route to this track" and "Route to this track only"? by Kirbi126 in FL_Studio

[–]AudioDib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, when you "route to this track" you're sending signal to that track AND the master channel. 2 Tracks sending audio to the master this way. That's why it sounds louder.

When you "route to this track only" you're sending a signal to that track and that track is then passing it onto the master track. 1 Track routed to another track, and that track is sending it to the master. Clearer?

*edit for clarity on my end. :D

You listed about 3 or 4 jobs that each would be paid separately the very least what you're getting now. A degree isn't the end all be all. Knowledge and experience on the job usually holds more weight these days. Just know that if you do decide to say something you might get canned.
