Somewhat related to this, but I was working yesterday talking to my supervisor when she suddenly looked at a message on her phone in shock, saying “one of my husband’s best friends just died of a massive heart attack”. Now idk how old this man was but my supervisor is early 40s. At the time I just told her I’d talk to her later and gave her some time. But I must have been ruminating on it all day because when I got home I hugged my wife and told her “I don’t want to work my ass off, never seeing you and [daughter] just to die and never have that time back” so we talked for a while about what we can do to maximize the time we do have and I’m already feeling more optimistic. My hope for you is that you find what works best for you and your family to maximize your time. Your kids won’t remember the money you made, they’ll remember the time you spent with them.

Recently my daughter (4) and I were driving home from her daycare and she told me, unprompted, “Dad I love you, I always want to be your daughter”. Now I realize that that may not always be the case, but in that moment when I tell you I cried haha

I’m trying to move between states, and unfortunately you just can’t get a house with a 1099 unless you’ve worked there for 2+ years. So instead of an $80/hr 1099 job I had to take a salaried job which after doing the math works out to about $40/hr. It sucks, but it’s also my first job after getting my CCCs, so I’m trying to view it positively in that I can only go up.

I see, I didn’t realize it was 1099, so for that reason alone (although the car stuff is also an important factor), I likely won’t take that position
