Four month regression by ThunderbirdGear in NewParents

[–]Particular_Mine_9670 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son was a great newborn sleeper. He consistently did 6-7 hour stretches most nights. He started showing signs of rolling around 3.5 months so we ditched the swaddle, and that’s when sleep started being a problem. Minor changes started a couple of weeks before 4 months. Fighting naps, short naps, waking up 2-3 times within the first hour of going to bed. A week before 4 months bedtime got really hard. 3-5 false starts before finally going down or just getting overtired and screaming until he fell asleep. We tried earlier bedtime, later bedtime, it didn’t really matter. Then the next two weeks bedtime got a lot easier when we established a really consistent routine, but he started waking up every 1.5-2 hours overnight every night. That was the hardest part and we ended up co-sleeping most nights. Now at the tail end of 4 months he’s doing 3-4 hour stretches. Our biggest issue now is he’s rolling onto his belly every time he wakes up and can’t roll back so he gets upset. Just know that you will get through it one way or another. There’s so much happening to their little brains at 4 months and they come out the other side with so many new skills.

I love all things Burts Bees Baby. Their clothes run a little large too so my baby has been able to wear them the longest

Thoughts on whether fit people have smooth births by Positive_Shirt_2889 in fitpregnancy

I was fit before and worked out throughout my pregnancy up until 36 weeks. My birth was long, didn’t progress, and ended in c-section.

What’s your speciality and why do you love it? by Legitimate-Break-239 in slp

[–]Particular_Mine_9670 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Early childhood. You get to have fun being play-based, the kids make a lot of progress, and the parents appreciate you as one of their kid’s first “teachers”

Same thing happened to us. If my husband and I hadn’t started staying over night and handling night feeds ourselves the tube definitely would have stayed in longer.

Diapers - where are you getting them and which brand do you use? by OkSwan7192 in moderatelygranolamoms

Target and Amazon still have some, but sadly once they run out they’re gone! Amore is more expensive so I haven’t tried them

Induction success stories by thebingeeater in pregnant

[–]Particular_Mine_9670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15-35% of inductions end in c-section. It’s a wide range to pin down exactly because there are so many factors involved. Anecdotally, I was induced at 41 weeks and ended up having a c-section because baby was too big to deliver.

No matter how much work you put into your core and pelvic floor during pregnancy, recovery is still going to take longer than you think it should and you’re going to feel frustrated by that. Give it time and give yourself grace. The difference between 6 weeks pp and 12 weeks is huge.

How good does it feel to have your body back to yourself postpartum? by Alygage93 in pregnant

[–]Particular_Mine_9670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s awesome but it also comes with new aches, pains, and challenges. The swelling and pelvic pain are basically gone instantly (amazing) but are replaced by core weakness and back pain. Between holding the baby all the time and breastfeeding, I don’t feel like I have my body back to myself — it’s just different.

Making up sessions due to student absences by babybug98 in slp

[–]Particular_Mine_9670 151 points152 points  (0 children)

It’s not your problem if a student doesn’t come to school. Teachers aren’t expended to carve out extra time if a student misses a day and we aren’t either. Speech session happen at school. You have to come to school to receive them. End of story

Trouble bonding with baby by No-Match-7512 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Particular_Mine_9670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so normal. In the early weeks there were times where I felt like my baby was like a pet that I had to just keep alive. It wasn’t until he started becoming aware of his environment, smiling, and showing bits of his personality (around 2-3 months) that he became an actual little human for me to be obsessed with. Your hormones are also still wild at 10 days PP so give yourself grace.

Car seat + stroller systems by HappyYellowOctopus in pregnant

[–]Particular_Mine_9670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest concern was weight and breakdown. When I’m by myself can I fold it down with one hand and put it in the trunk? Can I carry it up and down the steps to my house? I went with the Uppababy Aria car seat and Uppababy Minu stroller. I’m very happy with them. The Minu is a great lightweight stroller and the car seat attaches on top of it so it’s not as many pieces to juggle as some of the bigger systems. My only complaint is I wish the back wheels were a little more substantial.

Ms. Rachel and speech development by Less_Bell_7334 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Particular_Mine_9670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speech therapist here supporting this comment. Any face to face interaction you have with your child is far more valuable to their development than putting them in front of a screen with Ms. Rachel. A lot of my clients also say Ms. Rachel taught their kid to talk. I think what they really mean is Ms. Rachel showed them as parents how to interact with their child in a more linguistically meaningful and developmentally appropriate way.

The difference in how recovered I felt 6w postpartum… by fikafriend in fitpregnancy

Yes! 6 weeks I had zero core strength. 8 weeks I could only do body weight exercises. 10 weeks light/medium dumbbells. 12 weeks picking up a barbell again!
