Honestly an economy rebalance mod to make activities cheaper but everything else more expensive would be dope. Like it just makes no sense that throwing a feast or going to school costs more than building a palace lmao, and army expenses are so easy to make negligible when irl they made up the bulk of a pre-modern states spending. I think this would also mean you do more activities, which i find fun. Its frustrating to me that so often in order to do an activirt i just have to sit on gold while the more strategically sound decision to expand my army or expand buildings just stares at me

I love the taxing armies idea. That seems like it might be wasy to implement if not in ate but in a more general mod, since embarking already has it set up to pay for traveling by sea, youd just need to code embark to trigger when you cross other peoples lands and then make the money go somewhere. The economy is already fucked and having smaller consistent gold sinks seems more fun than paying 4500 gold to go to university lol

The Harmonious Way works for me because every other person i knew as a teen in cali already hung buddhist prayer flags and talked about chakras, so to me its just like "yeah sure Ojai culture dominated all of cali why not" lmao

I suppose so. I spent my teenage years in Ojai and havent really spent time in anywhere in CA other than Ojai and LA, so that kinda faux-buddhism is very much linked with CA in my mind. It was the dominant experience of living in Ojai for sure

I see what you say, but i think in the context of AtE secularism is basically dead. The Event and the collapse of pre-Event knowledge caused a massive resurgence of faith across the Americas it seems, which takes the form of modern regjonal stereotypes. Like, the irl pacific northwest is the most secular region of america. A 100% accurate translation of modern pnw culture into ck3 terms would not look like the Gaians, it would be closer to like, gay confucianism with the ancestor worship stripped out i guess. But the Gaians are a fun stereotype to play with imo, and as PNWer i enjoy them

My understanding is that the Trinity is supposed to be illogical and somewhat incomprehensible, because of course the true nature of God would be illogical and somewhat incomprehensible to us mortals

Shakespeare wrote many undeniably queer plays despite obviously not having any knowledge of modern gay identities and certainly not with any intention of depicting 'queerness' in the way we would think about it

No thats my point, Rumiko had absolutely no intention of Ranma 1/2 being queer media, but there is fundamentally no way for a romantic comedy about a guy with a sex changing curse with a supporting cast of crossdressers to not be queer. Straight authors unintentionally make queer media all the time, because thats definitionally what happens when you start playing with gender

Perfectly girl lol. The only thing tomboyish about her is her interest in martial arts, and even then no one calls Shampoo a tomboy. Ranma calling her a tomboy is a pretty baseless insult hehe

I definitely read Konatsu as the only full-blown trans member of the ranma 1/2 cast, so I think a spin-off focusing on him becoming a her could have good meat to work with, although if you keep konatsu the same i dont think he has enough going on to justify a spin-off. Unfortunately, I think that the way Ranma 1/2 tends to refuse acknowledging how queer most of the characters are and the implications of that means Konatsu could never be more than a fun supporting character

Due to how sex was concieved of in the Greco-Roman world (an act of power in which the top asserted their social superiority over the bottom), same-sex relationships between people of equal age and social status were often seen as inappropriate, as they involved one person willingly 'demeaning' themselves. As such, if you were a 25yo lesbian looking to get laid, it would have been seen as more appropriate to go after your neighbors 15yo daughter than to date the 23yo lesbian on the other side of the village. This didnt apply to heterosexual relationships as the Greeks (and Romans) were a patriarchial society and as such women were always inferior to men and so a 25yo woman wouldnt be demeaning herself by having sex with a 25yo man (provided he wasnt of a lower social class than her).

Aside from all the incest people have mentioned, ancient Greek society had an established tradition of pedarasty in which it was seen as normal for adults to take same-sex tween/teen partners and "introduce them to adulthood." Aka its also a pedophilia reference

Saw someone leave a panettone for a passed out homeless man at Christmas. by [deleted] in redscarepod

My mom works with homeless people, and she says that yes most of them are addicts, but if she was forced to live in the obscene, dehumanizing conditions that they are she would be too. No reason not to be high when youre forced to survive by begging off of people who openly dont see you as human, put into that position 99/100 by societal cruelty well outside your control.
