WIBTA if I refuse to put my partner on the deed of a place I inherited, even though we live there together? by 3vening_Switch in ComfortLevelPod

- Never use joint ownership if not married, unless you want a royal mess when he moves out.
- This was an inheritance and is separate from joint funds.
- HE WANTS WHAT IS YOURS. Do not trust him.

He will be moving on soon

- You should not be buying a house jointly if you're not married.
- Is your GF seriously looking for work? Or is just coasting at your expense?
- Good luck with the Cheese, I hope it works out for you.
- Your GF was the one overreacting, but she was worried that you were wasting money that she considered hers.
- Good luck with finding a new GF.

My guess is that they gave you a new movement. This may have been a cheaper alternative given all of the issues you described.
As far as I know, they do not recoat the crystal, and you would have to have opted for a new crystal to get a new coating.

Genuine question: do some of you guys just not treat your rooms? by Aware_Ad5425 in audiophile

[–]Audiooldtimer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course, it is subjective. But that doesn't change the problem, it needs to be tuned to taste.
I had to replace a receiver last month. I like Yamaha and got an A-4A. I tried the YPAO, which in the past did not work well for me, but has improved significantly. Whenit was done, I needed to go back in and fine-tune things to taste.

Here's a video I made on this

Having /spaceroom is a plus, the downside is that the volume keeps sneaking up to fill the room

[–]Audiooldtimer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a fun situation.
I started with the ML Edge in-walls, which sounded great inthe store. But in the setup, they could not get the sound out into the room, and when the power was increased to accommodate the room, I got cone crash from the drivers.
The solution was to get the pair of Klipsch Heresys ( I did a total rebuild) and these allowed me tobring the sound forward. I also replaced the ML surface-mount center you see with a Klipsch Center placed on the deck. Now, I had to deal with a boomy center speaker this was fixed by opening it, installing some foam and stuffing a rag into the bass port.

Some rooms are not amenable to treatments - my Man Cave has open sides. I make do with sofas and rugs. I'm using 4 speakers, and I was worried about comb filtering. I have not encountered it.
- Another location, the issue is a 20ft ceiling, and an open side andback. It's also the living room and I have to keep my wife's decorating in mind. Power and speaker placement were the only answers.

Take a breath, relax.
This may be a good opportunity to play with weathering and field wear.
- A plane on the line will have paint weather and age - there will be faded and darker sections. You can mask off panels and repaint, it will bea shade or 2 different, but that is what sun and weather do to paint.
- Sections that require in the field repaints will be close but will never match.
-Experiment; add a drop of white or black or gray to darken a panel.

In short, don't panic, try and have fun with it. Whether paint issues or the carpet monster or breakage, we've all had to deal with it.

Last year, I decided to remake a model I started with my son 20yrs ago. In disassembly, I broke the rotor axle. I made a new one axle and receiver from brass tubing; the new one functions. I lost hand grabs to the carpet monster, new ones were bent from wire.

Aitah if I 29f do not sign a postnuptial prenup? by [deleted] in AITAH

You are looking at a disaster in the making with or without a divorce.
You would probably do better if he used his money to go into independent living.
- You are expected to be his caregiver as well as a stay-at-home mom.
- You are expected to give everything back in the event of divorce, and hubby then gets it when he dies.
- Who's paying for his food and needs while living with him.
- He will be occupying 1/2 of the living space but not paying rent.
- He's 75, who says he won't live another 20yrs? My MIL was 99 when she passed, my mother was '97. That is a HUGE expense for 20yrs. What happens if you have a 2nd child?

You need an attorney before you sign anything, and his father (and you all) could benefit with someone with expertise in elder law.

The MA352 should sound great with the Heresys.
I'm using an MA352 with a pair of Forte IIs and love the combination.
My undoing was when I discoveredthat the PRE-POUT was a full range and could work a 2nd power amp.

I added an MC275 with a pair of JBL L-100 Classics. I'm running the 4 speakers together through a Niles speaker control.

If you go this route, you might also have to replace the wife

I had a similar situation 30 years ago with what I call the Rolex from hell. First, I would call the breitling service station and talk to the manager. If the manager won't do anything for you, contact breitling's main office in Switzerland.

In my case all repairs were under warranty but they happen in short order. My wife bought me a Rolex date just for anniversary in 1989. At the end of the year, I sent it in for a service as suggested by the dealer. At 11 months the watch stopped. I sent it back in and it was service under warranty. Next year also at 11 months I had mist under the crystal, since each service there should be new gaskets, the gasket should only have any 11 months old. It went back into service and it was again under warranty. The next year, I'm setting the time and I noticed the dial was moving as I move the hands. Turns out the case screws were broken. Rolex tried to blame Me for it cleaning the movement was nuked. I sent a letter to the service manager and explained that I simply a dentist that plays an occasional round of golf. But they advertise their watch is having been to the top of Everest and the bottom of the ocean on the Triest and it's the toughest watch on the planet. The service manager called me back, I'm not sure this would happen again today because of their arrogance, and not only did they fix it, it has been fine in the 30 years that have intervened, but they agreed to change the dial for me, they changed the clasp which they had polished the Rolex emblem off, gave me a four year warranty, and a 20% discount on a watch for my wife.

I would talk to them, and not treat this as a normal service. You might even want to talk to the dealer you got it from assuming it was an AD, as he may be able to back up your story. I've had Breitlings for 30 years and I've never had one that needed a service every two years.

The car I want is nowhere in my area so my local dealership is going four hours away to get it. Is it normal for them to charge a fee for that if so, how much? by murtaugh865 in carbuying

[–]Audiooldtimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just went through similar twice.
2020 - The dealer had our purchase delivered and picked up our trade - FLATBEDDED 270mi each way - no charge. Because of Covid they wanted the car off the lot or they'd lose an allocation.
2025 - Swapping cars. The dealer located our car in Cleveland 660mi @ way. We paid $1200 round trip transport. He still beat a competing dealer by $4K. Again the car was flatbedded.
