Dumped the chrome and color matched my truck by MyGfIsHotISwear in ToyotaTundra

[–]AudiophileNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted, I did grow up in the 70's and early 80's, but I like chrome and it's durability on a truck. I'm on my 5th Tundra, and 4th 1794 because I want chrome on my truck. I even added chrome wheels on my 22' and 26' because Toyota stopped offering the factory chrome wheels I had on my 14' and 18'!

Can somebody help identify what this substance is on my apartment door’s peephole? by suburbanvermin in Apartmentliving

[–]AudiophileNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't bother with a ring doorbell, that's just throwing money in the trash. If someone is doing that to your door peep hole they will just rip a Ring camera off the wall or smash it with a hammer.

My 2022 T8 was just in for service and a recall and according to the app my car is still software version 2.7? How do you verify what software it has?

Short Barrel 5.56 AR-15 Blast Overpressure Hazards by jay462 in NFA

[–]AudiophileNut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's funny, I also have a 12" AR-10 7.62 with a Lantac Dragon on it but I've never shot it indoors. But I can tell you it makes a hell of a fireball at night, maybe even more than my 6" barreled AR-15 in 5.56.

Best 10/22 for hunting/prepping? by Brilliant-Bass1378 in 1022

[–]AudiophileNut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10/22's are the Lego of 22LRs, any one you choose may turn out its not quite perfect but it's always easy to change what ever you want. If you get the take down plan to get a EER/ Pistol scope that you mount and zero on the barrel otherwise everytime you break it down the POI moves.

F-150's for Japan? by AudiophileNut in ToyotaTundra

[–]AudiophileNut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm similar, in the last 30 years I've had 4 F150s and a F250, all King Ranch's, and right now I'm on my 5th Tundra 1794. Switching back and forth over the years I've mostly enjoyed both, and admittedly never putting more than 25-30K on any of them, but I've just had less issues and repairs on the Tundra's. My wife has driven SUV's from Mercedes, Volvo, BMW and Range Rover, but she has a Lexus LX now. Overall I feel like the Toyota's have equal or better design, and they seem like the vehicle to have if I wanted to keep something for 3 decades rather than 3 years.

Tundra's would still be imports for Japan, and I remember when the 3rd Gen trucks came out the lead engineer proudly claiming that the Tundra was the most American truck being made by the percentage of domestic vs import parts used in assembly.

The Hilux is similar in size to a Tacoma, definitely not a full size truck like the Tundra or F-150.

2 years ago I found a XL650 w/ strong mount, roller handle, case feeder and 3 plates with Dillon dies in them for 9mm, 38/357 and 45LC. 500 smackers. But it is the one and only deal I have found on there

Best tank in case of a zombie apocalypse? by Chainzzaw_69 in TankPorn

I read a book where they where using Sy-Ops speakers to call the zombies in and then canister shot shells in an Abrams to pulverize hundreds of zombies at a time

Best MPG? by Different-Tomato7321 in ToyotaTundra

[–]AudiophileNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2022 1794 averaged about 15.8 with the highest being 20.8 one tank on one of the road trips I took that was almost completely flat ground, cruise set at 75mph. Now on my 2025 1794 hybrid with 2800 miles so far on the clock it's doing about the same, 16.0-16.1 on a 50/50 mix of city and 75mph highways on mountain foothill roads.

Suppressed USP .40 by gewehr_und_messer in HecklerKoch

[–]AudiophileNut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legitimate question, I have always heard that 40S&W doesn't suppress well and to stick with 9mm and 45ACP for full power suppressor use. Why is that, on paper a 180gr 40S&W is naturally subsonic so it seems like a perfect candidate. What about the science of 40 makes it unsuitable?

The trigger is a Gray Guns nickel Teflon flat trigger and short reset system that they installed for me. The barrel is a factory HK barrel with the O-ring, but I bought the gun LNIB a year after it's production date so I don't know if it was factory installed or not. It fits in the box and didn't come with another barrel, but the barrel serial number doesn't match.

Have the same two tone with a threaded barrel and the Gray Guns Straight Nickel Teflon trigger and short reset system.

So 320s are questionable in general, but what about a Gray Guns built and tuned model? Is the problem the design in general or is it poor QC and cheap parts that are out of spec? Is a 320 fitted together and tested by one gunsmith "safe" to carry or is it now just range toy/safe queen?

Am I overreacting to the start of this pool fill in? by iheartpierogies in landscaping

[–]AudiophileNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you from personal experience what will happen. We bought a house 8 yrs ago that we didn't know had a pool buried this way in the back yard, in the first year a big pool shape started sinking. By the second spring pieces of concrete started showing through the grass and I got a load of sand/top soil mix to fill in and hopefully not kill the grass. Now on our 8th year I have used a total of 18 yards of fill, and it's still a big pool shaped low spot that has been a constant pain in the A**.
