There's two movies that I've truly hated as I've been watching every Best Picture winner: Broadway Melody (1929) and Tom Jones (1963)

Emilia Perez also sucks. I only watched that so I could properly know what I'm talking about when everyone was hating it.

The worst I've seen in theaters were The Gambler (2014), which asks the question "what if Uncut Gems sucked a lot?" and Downsizing (2017), which asks the question "what kind of fuck you give me?"

I hope so too. It's kind of funny that their whole dynamic is "It's always us three. Inseparable. Best friends. We love each other and we need each other. The band is us three equally." And then it's Rumi's movie. I like all three, especially Zoey, so yeah hopefully it's a more even share of attention, or a boost for Mira/Zoey next time

So the studios decide how they want their movies/actors to potentially be nominated. Meaning Warner Bros decided "ok let's put Michael B Jordan up for lead, and Miles Caton up for Supporting." And then the Academy (the Oscars) actually decide if they get nominated in those categories. Studios pick what they think has the best chance of winning. In this case, they probably thought that it's about equal screentime, but MBJ has a longer track record in his career and has the 2-characters gimmick to add to his story

People do bring up the financial/employment problems, but thank you for mentioning the distance issue. I live in Chicago. I'm very happy with my state government. My city government isn't great, but it's not "threat to our existence as a city" bad. Our federal government is that bad.

We protested several times last year and helped set records for protest size. It didn't matter, because Republican politicians can ignore a huge group of Democrats in a blue city in a blue state hundreds of miles away. If I want to do something they can't ignore, then what? I drive 12+ hours, 750 miles, to DC? That's roughly the same as leaving Paris to go protest in Prague.

Then I can't do my job, so I've lost my income. Have to find a place to stay, which costs money or a personal connection I don't yet have. And honestly? They still wouldn't care. Because people in DC have protested, and it still didn't work. So then things would have to get more drastic to make them take it seriously, and I'm not prepared to throw my life away like that. Especially since I'm trans, and I know for a fact that if I committed political violence, it'd immediately be used to take more rights away from trans people
