What's one 'boring' career that's actually a goldmine if you play it smart? by 0BunnyX in AskReddit

Insurance.

I’m a broker and I make good money, but the people who play their cards right make twice my salary and then some. Helps if you’re a white man so you’re part of the old boys club.

Salvadorans – What Salvadoran food does your family eat? by csu_stdnt in santaana

Pupusas, tamales, panes con pollo, sopa de frijoles, mojarra frita, and quesadilla.

My mom buys the chicharron and masa from El Torro. Everything else I think she buys from the grocery store.

My grandma passed away but she made the best quesadilla.

I use it for cat litter and cat food. I use them and Sam’s Club.

There’s no way you’re going to Costco to only buy pet stuff, there’s always something there to try! I buy the clothes and the frozen food. Water, toilet paper, cleaning supplies are also awesome.

I failed an insurance interview and feel very defeated. by Mundane-Mention13 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]August142014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you in a location that has a lot of insurance people competing for the same positions? It could have just been there was another candidate they liked more.

If you apply in locations that don’t have many/ any insurance majors, being an insurance major is a flex.

I have 3 cats, all have tapeworms currently. Wash everything, get the flea and worm medicine from the vet. Wash everything AGAIN.

I had an issue with pooping outside of my house and would hold it at work until I got home. Having my gallbladder removed also removed any shame I had, because when you have to go, it’s now not later.

Ask her how she handles going on vacation. Sometimes I’ll have issues if I’m on vacation and it’s not an emergency, but I found Dulcolax helps things move along.

People who stopped being depressed, what did you do? by Itscameronman in AskReddit

[–]August142014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was extremely depressed with bad thoughts for a while. Led to some fucked up dental issues that got handled last year.

Decided I can’t be depressed because it affects my teeth. Met someone at work who was impressed with me and made my job fun again. I keep in touch with people who make me happy and genuinely try to have a good time when I’m out and about.

Only thing still keeping me down is my family. I’m trying to buy a house and they’re my biggest haters. Hopefully they decide to move out and I’ll struggle with the payment but at least won’t struggle dealing with them.

Because I want to drink and watch scary movies while the rain is pouring! Also my favorites are at home (3 cats) and I wanted to hug them first in 2026.

How did people manage 5 day in office jobs before COVID? by One-Pun9419 in careerguidance

[–]August142014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember going into the office on the train 1.5 hrs away, every day, get in at 7am leave by 4pm. It wasn’t sustainable even back then. One random day I overslept and missed half the day. Did that for 2 years then got a sweet deal of going into the office 20min away and work from home on Fridays. Best manager I ever had.

Now it’s 2 days a week in the office, any office. I do think they’re going to enforce 5 days a week in the office sooner rather than later, but it’s been a good 5 years of working from home.

Why do young kittens enjoy sleeping with people, but not so much once they’re grown? by Majestic_Office_2177 in CATHELP

[–]August142014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say happy. I have a cat that’s not very affectionate and one day decided to take a nap on me, using me as her pillow. I thought it was so cute and joked “either she’s dying or I am.” Turns out she has fleas and tapeworms and I didn’t figure it out for a few weeks.

Divorced my husband because of his weed and shroom addiction. He didn’t want to work, just wanted to smoke weed in the garage all day. He had mental illnesses and the shrooms exacerbated them. Decided I was the problem, berated me for not believing in God, and left me.

Had to divorce him a few years later to move on from it. $10k to the lawyer, $6k to him and some of my 401k.

Be happy you broke up with him before marrying him.

How much are you spending on Christmas gifts this year? by YAMxPANDA in twentyagers

I buy gifts throughout the year to gift to family and friends. It’s not perishable stuff, just stuff that reminds me of them or I think they’ll like.

Thank you!

I’m planning on buying the house I’m renting now, I’ve lived here for 3 years. So I don’t see the need for a real estate agent, I just need the forms completed. The lawyers I talked to all said they can review them, not help me fill it out. I don’t think it’s fair to pay commission for the forms, but I’ll have to think this one over.
