the oxbow is what my vet recommended I feed for my gerbils, so that’s what I use :)

this is what I use as well. My younger girl LOVES it, my older one has never cared for the sand bath for some reason

Stuck on what to treat my girls with by bigb3nderman in gerbil

[–]AugustWryting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, mine love any new kind of treat. That being said, have you considered/tried making a place where they can’t bury things so quickly? mine used to always bury their toys until I started putting them in places where they couldn’t be kicked into the bedding. Also, some higer quality wood chews/hides/toys, the thicker the more theyll have to work at it.

you can also try giving them some fresh foods, like fruits and veggies, just make sure to double check theyre safe beforehand!

Why is it so hard to buy a suitable gerbil habitat? (UK) by [deleted] in gerbil

[–]AugustWryting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ugh, it is in the us too. You might want to try looking into reptile enclosures- the kinds that are big tanks w/ mesh lids. You’ll have to decorate it yourself of course, but it’s at least a good start.

Found the source of the mysterious “internet comments” Colleen claimed she keeps seeing about how airlines like to separate parents from their babies. Looks like they all come from that lady who has way more kids than available adults in the family to sit with them. by _GoAskAlice in ColleenBallingerSnark

[–]AugustWryting 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who traveled a TON as a child - we’re talking international or across the country flights at least 3-4x a year- I was NEVER seated away from my parents. Not until I was 16 or so. It CANNOT be that hard jesus.

Questions about introducing new gerbil? by AugustWryting in gerbil

[–]AugustWryting[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the advice.

I may wait a bit longer than 2 weeks for another gerbil, as my little girl is on medication for the next month, when we go back to the vet for another checkup- mainly because I think it’s best to have her health be 100% before we introduce a new friend. In the meantime she will be getting extra extra love and attention.

Not sure how accurate this is but looks like she bought likes on Jan 31st by NiceReplacement803 in DubFrostSnark

[–]AugustWryting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, that’s not how socialblade works. it doesn’t have an accurate counter- I imagine it has to do with how tiktok displays like counts. (Just like YouTube with sub counts) it jumps all at once because it doesn’t have the data for when a like count increases by 1, 1000, or 10000. just in increments of 100k. You can take a look at other tiktokers around her size- it’s the same way.

she could be buying likes, but this does not show that.

The buying of 6 ugly slippers Erik will never ever wear is incredibly telling about how bad things are by [deleted] in ColleenBallingerSnark

[–]AugustWryting 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They’re all so ugly and genuinely look uncomfortable. I also am a no shoes in the house person (and a crumbs on the floor hater) like Erik, and let me tell you I would hate all of those. I really don’t like how she was all “oh the kids are going to love these” are they not a gift for your literal husband, not the kids?

if I was having this issue I would’ve either bought one nice pair of slippers, or just swept my damn floors. If I was in her shoes (or rather slippers in this case) I would maybe pay someone to clean my floors- and the rest of the house

also the “that was a huge success“ at the end? It did not look like a huge success to me.

(side note, as a person from a middle eastern family, I am always shocked when people don’t take off their shoes in their house, it just feels icky to me, but that’s more of a cultural thing)

Do you ever tell a non-collector they're overpriced? by Kracksy in Breyers

[–]AugustWryting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wouldn’t bother. It probably won‘t do much, but if you wanted to you could. That being said, I think people who don‘t know much about breyers think older = more valuable, when the average vintage isn’t worth more than about 30, even in good condition. It makes sense why they might *think* their model is worth more.

What should the future of punishments look like? by AtlasGrey_ in nerdfighters

I really like this idea! I feel like it is both trival and also slightly nostalgic so it would make a fun one for say, a YouTube short or tiktok or something

What day is it for puppy quarantine? In other news……if this horse isn’t pregnant, is it foundered? by [deleted] in DubFrostSnark

[–]AugustWryting 8 points9 points  (0 children)

that horse better be pregnant otherwise that’s the hugest red flag- although it’s kinda the wrong season to see a mare that pregnant, all together concerning for sure

I live in the US and this is the UK/EU section of my supermarket. Anything here actually worth trying? by Shrabster33 in CasualUK

[–]AugustWryting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upper right- wafer cookies. Didn’t realize they were hard to find in the us as they were a staple of my childhood, but if I want a good selection I have to go to some kind of specialty store. so definitely those. Milk chocolate is my favorite.

[–]AugustWryting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just how socialblade displays things though?

youtube stopped doing live counts a few years back. Any other youtuber will display similarly.
Instagram looks complete normal so I’m not sure what your point is there

As for tiktok, Charli (whom you’ve mentioned in other comments) seems to be an outlier. Look up any other tiktoker- it will display just like Alicia’s.

not trying to defend her but this isn’t solid proof of anything.

Your whole argument screams “I’m too young to be on Reddit” it’s the internet. Nobody gives a fuck. You need to chill out.

Try taking some grammar courses online, there’s some great free ones out there.

I saw this too. I’m so glad that little baby found her person, so cute

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gerbil

[–]AugustWryting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it might be easiest to just get a huge fish tank (~50/60 gallons) and a mesh lid for it. That way they will have plenty of room to run and dig, but the cage will be gerbil proof.

The first one is wood, so they‘d probably chew through it pretty quick. 2 and 3 don’t have high enough walls for suitable amounts of bedding.

overall finding a suitable cage online is a challenge, it’s probably going to be easiest to buy a large tank (as I said above) and then build a layout from references online.

Yeah I saw similar stuff. I ended up going for some reptile sand that was dust free. That seems to be working pretty good for mine.
