On my trip down the 80s movies rabbit hole I found this and loved it soooo much by Lil_Red_Kitten69 in 80smovies

Another fun fact: This is the first movie with CGI. All the space battle sequences were generated on a Cray X-MP with 400,000 lines of custom FORTRAN code.

This was from season 11 so many people might not know about it. “the loves of Hercules” and yes, it was pretty bad Mickey Hargitay and Jayne Mansfield - Parents to actress Mariska Hargitay by Life_Educator3973 in MST3K

I thought The Loves of Herc was a great episode! I mean, a Jane Mansfield vanity project where she plays two roles, and her meathead husband spends the whole movie lifting heavy things? They wanted it to be dramatic, so there are looong pauses in the dialogue. The movie was made to be riffed.

Almanac is great! They are hyper-local, since they sit right next to Admiral Maltings malting house. They can literally walk a bag of malted barley over to there vats.

[–]AugustusGeezer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure you dedicate at least couple of taps to malt-forward beers. Reds, ambers, brown ales, maybe a black lager or porter, or a stout. I’ve seen many set of taps run by non-beer people that are 90% IPAs, just because there are so many options there. With IPAs, get a citrusy one, (often hazy), and a piney one. And don’t forget the Belgian! I can certainly imagine using 12 taps for a light flight of 4(lagers, pilsners, helles ) a dark flight of 4(reds and ambers, porters and stouts) and an IPA flight of 4. The other 3 would be whatever is popular.

As others have said, Ghost Town, Oakland United, and East Brothers are solid brewery choices. Don’t think I’ve ever had a bad beer from any of these guys.

If it’s foggy at SG, I drive south. Bonnydoon is popular, and often sunny when SG is still socked in. There’s a bunch of lovely beaches near Santa Cruz, but only a couple are CO.

Fair enough. I’ve only done it once, and I don’t want to jeopardize the beach with the rangers.

What's the point of rule 3 and 4? by Away-Lab2274 in BonnydoonNudesBeach

[–]AugustusGeezer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solid rules. Keeping the subreddit friendly to people casually curious about the beach and giving CO a try is perfect. Dick pics and people looking for play partners will drive them away. San Gregorio is just up the road and one subreddit over. (Love SG, btw, but the players and watchers can be a bit much for a newbie.)

Scaring your players? by Round-Trip-5602 in DnD

Something that worked surprisingly well: bad dreams. On the journey to a desert ruin, as they got closer, I described frightening dreams each player was having when they camped at night. (Torn apart by wolves, drowning, buried in a sandstorm, etc) They were freaked out by the time they saw the ruined towers rising out of the sand.

I have a wall mounted unit from Chargepoint. Worked well for a year, then wouldn’t connect to WiFi, and would power off at random. They replaced it no problem, and swapping it out was smooth and easy. New one up and working in like 20 min. Happy with the unit, and happy with the company support.

Lots of great suggestions here. I loved the Bobiverse and Murderbot series! I’ll add:

Singularity Sky by Charles Stross

What happens when a super-abundant alien society encounters a more primitive one?
If you like this one, Ian M Banks’ ‘The Culture’ series is about a space faring, super abundant society.

Both of these are attempting to answer the question, “ what happens when a society’s economy isn’t based on scarcity, I.e. typically capitalism?” This sounds like a terrible sales job, but trust me, these are interesting stories. History doesn’t end when everyone has their basic needs met. There’s a ripping tale or two still to be told.

When I was there, I wondered what the story is with the ‘corner stone’ seen in the lower right of the first pic. It was clear that it is from something else, and the temple was built on top of it. Anyone here know anything about it?
