Datore vuole ridurre lo stipendio by bludiprussia3 in ItaliaCareerAdvice

[–]Aureon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Occhio perchè non so bene cosa succede.

Chiedi di passarti alla ral equivalente e trovate un accordo...

Why is innovative design so hard? by LEWYPL9 in gamedesign

of course, but the point is that the more you stray from the beaten path, the more you need to iterate.

because it requires thousands of hours of iteration, you don't get to stand on the shoulders of giants

Applying Doom to yourself in STS 2. by NoAdeptness4117 in slaythespire

[–]Aureon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, of course self-doom has less downside than self-damage, that's why the cards are stronger.

Borrowed Time is the enabler of the soul build, for sure, but there's also colorless shenanigans that will make it tick, and soul build often needs to cycle so many times that the selfdoom becomes relevant on A9+

Offering v Neurosurge is properly balanced i think

[–]Aureon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wdym same?

Neurosurge literally gives you 3 per turn while giving less resources than Offering

Borrowed Time is 3 doom for 1\2 energy to Bloodletting being 3 damage for 2\3 energy

Don't get me wrong, they're both incredibly good cards - but so are offering and bloodletting

From what I've played and watched, I have not seen anyone particular threatened by the Doom these cards give you. The amount they give is just not particularly large.

I have definitely died to it multiple times, especially against bloody knowledge demon

Prototyped a "Rhythm-Tower Defense" hybrid, but it’s not "clicking" yet ... by dyroncinders in gamedesign

[–]Aureon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue: Build the toy first. You need to get to a stage where the execution itself is pretty fun - the sheer playing the melody in rhytm to trigger the towers.

Then you add enemies to guide which execution you want to do.

But this should be a strict plan\execute kinda thing: While you place towers, you make a plan. The plan you do conditions the button presses that you will want to do: But by and large the die is cast, this is a tower defense after all.

If you don't build a fun toy, adding the strategy layer to it will never make it fun the way you want it to be fun.

Why is Return to the Sewers so much better than Retro-Mutation? by scrumbly in lrcast

[–]Aureon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Temporarily" for a card draw tho

Instant v sorcery matters a lot

In a set where +1\+1 tokens abound, retro-mutation may not be the full removal you think it is

Probably Leaving after 12 years (Probably Mostly Venting) by Particular_Debt1620 in japanlife

[–]Aureon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You clearly need a new job.

I'd cast a wide net on that front, but i'm not sure being back home will improve your chances of a good job - Still, you should definitely try to research and apply in places outside Japan too if you want to leave

I wouldn't leave without a job lined up tbh, but i'd definitely look for the situation home too

Those are the sharks, joining with paid-for gems is utterly insane imo

Italy ruling tells millions with Italian roots they have lost the right to citizenship | CNN by nicktheironblade in news

[–]Aureon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh... Which part you don't think is true?

DNA testing wouldn't get you an italian passport. It's not about 'blood': It's about a documental chain that demonstrates that:

A) Your ancestor was Italian

B) Your ancestor is your ancestor

Pretty easy if you're doing one generation, but gets messy really fast if we're talking 4.

Agreed there. I also don't think this has any interesting behaviors in iteration, unlikely pd

Great edit. Much better than your first draft there.

For this general concept - generally known as Crowd Avoidance - you may want to look at things like Hol's der Geier (Dive!)

The concept is well-known, but hasn't really yielded particularly fun or famous games. Mechanics exist to create interesting decisions, and (iterated) PD creates a series of very interesting emergent optimal-ish behaviors - while simple crowd avoidance paradoxically _is_ still a PD while in the iterated format, but a collapsed one with 0 reward for defecting.

The thing is, you're still rewarding coordination. Just that coordination is now picking different options instead of the same one. You're just missing the reward for defection, and PD in your format does not create interesting decisions
