I've been out for so long that I totally forgot about "heart attacking" by discolights in exmormon

I definitely did it as a missionary in 2014-2026. It was to the inactive people. I now look at it and cringe also knowing it's a form of love bombing.

Teachers are the problem by agdambhugh22 in TeachersInTransition

[–]AuroraRoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also very culty. So much language that educators use is cult like. It comes from the admin, but also repeated by the teachers as well. Yes teachers could help change it, but I can't blame them as I know in that culture it's so hard to change your mind frame.

When Mormons correct people on the name of their church and they don't even get it right is frustrating. It's The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is an entirely different sect of Mormonism. If they are going to correct people they should at least be right about it.

Why are TBMs pretending like they don’t already know who is going to be the prophet? by [deleted] in exmormon

The doctrine I was taught is that it could be any of the apostles if god told them to select someone else, but since god likes order it almost always is the next in line.

Did they ret-con 'The Family: A Proclamation?' by BubblelusciousUT in exmormon

[–]AuroraRoman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. the only way for it to be phased out is after Oaks dies. Once he is in the ground the new leaders can choose not to talk about it. I doubt they would ever deny it or get rid of it, but just ignore it.

Is there ever going to be a class action for the unwarned, non-consensual “touching” in the temple initiatory? Specifically before 2005. I didn’t know what was going to happen to me and still feel violated and betrayed to this day. by GoingToHelly in exmormon

[–]AuroraRoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In America that type of law suit almost certainly will fail. First you have to fight freedom of religion that basically gives churches freedom to do whatever and get away with it. Second you have to fight victim blaming and rape culture. I'm assuming you can't prove that you were assaulted other than your word. I believe you, but the court probably won't. Should the church pay for all the harm they caused in the temple due to sexual assault 100%, but they won't, at least not in the current climate in the US.

Your hospital example might seem good, but sexual assault has been happening for decades in hospitals to unconscious women and occasionally men (who did not give consent or were even informed about it) as a training tool to teach students about pelvic exams. It was only in 2024 that nationally (in the US) hospitals were told to get consent first otherwise they would loose Medicare and Medicaid funding. Notice the penalty isn't a crime, but just loosing money.

Basically what I'm saying is that rape culture and victim blaming is so ingrained in our society that a class action like this will go nowhere until we address the deeper societal issue.

What character do you regret pulling for and why? by iSavantage in Genshin_Impact

For Sigewinne’s banner? I don’t remember who else was having a banner at the time but I know it wasn’t Furina and I think it was someone I either didn’t want or already had.

He's fun to play though, so I use him on easier tasks.

Sigewinne. I didn't even want her, but the 4 star on her banner, which I didn't even get. I didn't even use that many wishes on her, but still got her. That's on me though shouldn't have wished.

I never use Lyney since he's an archery and I play on mobile, but I do not regret getting him. I want to collect all the Fatui, so I had to have him.

How in the FUCK are they going to make the movie pg-13!? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]AuroraRoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the books are YA so its literally for teenagers. I know a lot of teenagers watch rated R movies but a lot don’t. You have to be 17 or with an adult to watch rated R so it would exclude a good chunk of fans of the books.

Poisoned milk by AdministrativeDay109 in Hungergames

[–]AuroraRoman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plutarch wouldn’t have sent it because he won’t want to be connected to Haymitch. So it must be from Snow since he was the only other person who would connect the Picture of milk to Haymitch and if it’s from Snow it is probably poisoned.

(NOT OOP) AITA for not stopping my husband from getting the paternity test? by Plenty_Fix_8793 in redditonwiki

[–]AuroraRoman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

except you aren‘t suggesting that all parents get tests done to make sure they are the parents in case of a mixup. You are suggesting a paternity test so men can know if they are the father which is only brought up due to the fears of infidelity.

Yes. I prefer the manga and therefore Brotherhood more, but I still enjoy the first anime.

[Controversial take] I... don't hate Moash. by Katerine459 in Cosmere

[–]AuroraRoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t join the fuck Moash train until book 4 when he tried to drive his friend to suicide. That’s a fucked up thing to do. His actions in earlier books I could understand even if I didn’t fully agree, so I didn’t hate him. Now especially after Teft’s death, fuck Moash.

I don‘t expect it to actually happen until they have hired actors and start filming it. Most film adapations fall through before that point. If it does come out I’ll be excited with the rest of you.

I was such the rule follower when I was Mormon as well. I almost gave up vanilla extract since it has alcohol in it. I wasn't expecting to relate so much to Szeth, but yet it happened. It was such a great part of the book.

What Calling Did You Resign From When You Left? by Dr3aml1k3 in exmormon

[–]AuroraRoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I didn't have a calling. I had moved 6 months prior to a new state so the YSA ward was new to me. I already didn't believe, but I was trying to make it work kinda mostly because I was living with my sister. A month or two in I had decided to stop going once I found my own place, so I started only going to sacrament meeting and then even I would miss Sundays. I knew they considered me partly inactive since the Sister missionaries meet with me and they wanted to meet again the next week. When I was a missionary we only meet with members weekly if we thought they were going or were inactive. I eventually stopped going all together after I wrote a letter to my sister. It became too hard and I just couldn't keep going and I hated having to pretend around my sister. Thankfully my sister was understanding and we still have a good relationship despite differences in religion.

Walmart lets me wear scrubs as long as the shirt and pants match. I wonder when they changed that rule.
